Tour of Northern Italy and Cinque Terre

    by

We stayed one night at this hotel for the start of our 10 day tour of Northern Italy and Cinque Terre. Even though the location was not that significant for us it is next to Intro Montanelli Public Park and 10 minutes walking from the main train station. The park has safe wide walking paths and interesting volcanic rock outcroppings. It was perfect for a place to stretch our legs after our overnight flight to Milan. There is a place for dogs in this park.
The hotel itself is on a busy street in the shopping district of Corso Buenos Aires. The outside sidewalk and entryway of the hotel appear to have construction ongoing and is not real attractive.
The room we had was large and reflected bygone grandeur. The carpet was very worn by the bathroom and entryway. Our view was of the trashcans. The wallpaper was peeling and the fabric on the small couch and chair was worn and outdated. There were holes in the sheer curtains. The bathroom was clean had beautiful sand colored marble on the sink and the shower walls. The water was hot and had good pressure. Shampoo but not conditioner was provided along with shower gel but no washcloths. We never could figure out how to use the television. The lobby is small and very modern looking.
The only meal we ate here was breakfast which was the typical good European Buffet Breakfast which was cold cuts, crusty rolls and bread, fresh and prepared fruits - pears, prunes, etc. Fruit juices, sausages, yogurt, milk, coffe and tea and jams and butter. There were also some pastry breakfast foods. The hotel has a good website where you can see the dining room.

Unique Quality: The Indro Montanelli park which is next door is a nice place to enjoy the outdoors and museums. There are many shops in the area - especially nice is the gelato around the corner from the hotel.
