Milan's neighbourhoods

by Shaimi

Hi everyone,

Im planning to do a scholar exchange in september. Im going to the
Universita Luigi Boconni. Thats why im looking for a room, not too expensive. But i wanted one that is not too far from the university, although i can imagine that the closer, the more expensive it becomes. So i was wondering if anyone, can help me out, with some names of neighbourhoods that i could look that are not that far, but still good. Or if anyone knows a link of a good site, which shows the whole city better. Well i thank u in advance.

Hi.... I wish you a very nice experience there...

I guess you already took a look at the University site, right?
Look here:

Ciao
Francesco

Travel Tips for Milan

An evening along the Navigli

by draguza

I suggest when in Milan to spend an evening in the "Navigli area", especially during the summer

You'll find here lots of cozy outside restaurants, pubs, bars, one close to the other. Also, the two main streets are full of cheap handcraft merchandise sold by Indian and African people

This area is in an area called Porta Ticinese
Take the Green line to Porta Genova or tran nr 3 or 15 from Duomo

Packing List

by mauro_pd

The weather is usually quite humid in the summer and a little bit more cold than rest of south Italy in the winter. You can easily survive with standard coats and light t-shirts ... and after all you can buy almost everything if you left something at home ;-) Bring with you tons of money ;-)

Galleria Vittorio Emanuele

by croisbeauty about Prada

The "Prada" shop, which is located in the central position of the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele is the most attractive shop I have seen so far in Milan. You have to belive in my judgement because the fashion clothes is my job.
The collections I have seen are of the extraordinary prestige, top designed, made of excellent fabrics and quality. The prices are very high, not affordable to an five figures income.

70s Revival style cocktail bar

by Flamegirl about Chalao

Chalao is a wine & cocktail bar on the Naviglio Pavese which I've spent many hours in, and which is connected to some of my maddest memories of Milan. It became my "local" for a while (even though I didn't live near it) and as a foreigner it was nice to have a place where I was more than just another nameless customer.

What I really like about it is the decor (it's individual and in my opinion, nicely done - see photo) and the mojitos; they do the best mojitos I've ever tasted! My opinion of one of its joint owners is pretty low considering his behaviour towards some friends of mine, but that's a personal matter and shouldn't spoil your enjoyment of a drink there.

Happy hour runs from 6-9pm and the place closes at 2am. In the summer evenings when the roads along the Navigli are closed to traffic, you can sit outside by the canal, relax and people-watch. none

Milan's cab service

by croisbeauty

Milano taxi cars are white coloured and therefore visible from the distance. The taxi drivers are just incredible, they'll take you anywhere you want in the city in a very short time. Don't ask me how they manage it, take a tour and just watch. The price is very resonable and in the late night you can gurgain about.
