A perfect spot to begin or end your trip
by TripAdvisor Member coleman1
The Starhotels Anderson is one block from the train station and is a perfect spot to finish or begin a trip. The hotel’s décor is contemporary and tasteful, and was clearly designed by people who have traveled and value the comfort of the business and leisure traveler. The restaurant provided a very good meal.
Very Stylish Hotel!

Stayed at the Starhotels Anderson with my partner for 3 nights last week and can honestly say we had no complaints about this hotel. Booked via Expedia after reading the reviews on Trip Advisor and got a great price for our stay.
The hotel is located across from Stazione Centrale and couldn't have been better situated for our arrival from Bergamo by bus as we only had to cross the street to get to the hotel. The reception was very stylish, the staff extremely friendly and courteous and room fantastic. We had a huge bed, crisp white bed linen, fabulous bathroom with great shower and mini tv. Didn't us the mini bar but it appeared well stocked. There was a bit of train noise but this didn't bother us at all and we barely noticed during our stay.
Breakfast was great - the buffet had a bit of everything: fruit, yoghurt, eggs, bacon, pastries, crackers, cheese and cold meats as well as fruit juice and tea and coffee. Again the staff were excellent.
There seemed to be a real internation clientelle staying at the hotel, a mix between business people and tourists like ourselves.
Don't worry about the location of this hotel, we saw nothing in the vicinity of the station to worry us. I would say its like any other major city centre location where you would keep your wits about you anyway.
The hotel is ideally located for the metro into the centre of town, we found the metro to be very efficient and a great way of getting around quickly.
I would definately stay here again and would recommend it to anyone else.
What a Great Hotel!

I was apprehensive about staying in a "modern" hotel, but the Starhotel Anderson was great! The decor is modern in a stylish, Milan way, not in an institutional way. The room was small but lovely and well laid out and very comfortable. The staff were very helpful and friendly, mailing postcards for us and recommending restaurants. The location near the train station proved very helpful as we arrived from the airport via a bus that took us directly to the station. We also took the Metro from the train station stop all over Milan, then at the end of our stay took the train to Florence. I would recommend this hotel highly and would stay there again in a minute!
Never slept so well in a hotel

The Star Hotel Anderson was selected from previous Trip Advisor reports and we were thankful we pasid attention to them. The location opposite the main rail station was great for trips out and the area is no where as bad as it used to be, never had any problems even at night. The hotel staff were friendly and helpful, the cooked breakfasts were really hot not lukewarm, theven our pot of tea was fresh ( hard to find in Italy). The beds were a nest of down, so comfortable, plenty of lillowes and a choice of filling. The room had Quad glazing, never heard even a siren, black out curtains as well, could had been in a little alpine village for all we knew. The restuarant, small but handy and good quality for those late nights back from a trip, the bar pleasant, had accident when hot milk spilt on me but they even produced bag of ice in case my foot was scalded. A very enjoyable stay and got a really good rate by booking well in advance nearly half that paid for similar rating hotel in Rome.

The hotel is well located near the central station and just opposite the airport shuttle bus station. The staff was very nice and helpfull, the rooms very clean and cosy and the bath was a dream.
The hotel is very central with two subway stations in front of it. The breakfast was quite nice, the room service is a delight (try the salmon with apple salad).
We would definitly recommend the hotel and stay there again.

My husband and I stayed at the Anderson for 3 nights, prior to joining our tour group in Rome, for our honeymoon. This was our first trip to Europe, and initiation to European hotel ratings.
We loved the hotel! The reviews on this website were extremely helpful and managed our expectations.
I wouldn't worry about the little park between the train station and hotel, if you're used to urban life and street people - they are not aggressive.
Having now stayed in nine different italian hotels (rated First Class by the tour group), nothing holds a candle to the Anderson. The room, hotel amenities, cleanliness, and restaurant are definitely the best we stayed in so far.
The train station and metro lines are very close, however it is a fair walk to the duomo, La Scala etc.
The front desk staff were extremely helpful in assisting us with various requests ex booking our train to Rome, car rentals, directions to the outlet shopping etc.
They went over and above in being our conduit with the car rental office when we, unfortunately, got a flat tire. Take care when driving on the cobblestones!
Definitely coming back to Italy to try the other Starhotels. When in Milan, stay at the Anderson. Great value. Excellent product and fantastic service.

2) Am thinking of doing day trip to Lake Como. What are your thoughts given the winter season. How do we get there?
3) Would like to explore Dolomites. What's the best way to get there from Milan and should we stay over for 1-2 days or as day trip? What's the best place to stay and things to do in Dolomites.
Pls help!! Thks everyone. Appreciate your sharing your knowledge.
