Rainy and cold
Arrived to Malpensa and got on the wrong train in to the city. After finding our way to the grand railway station we found our hotel. Stayed in Milano three days and of course there was restorations work ongoing on the outside of the Dome and on the LaScala opera house. Anyway, we had one day with sunshine, visiting the Scorzera palace, shopping around and just relaxing.
"Around the Lakes"
On our forth day we returned to Malpensa and picked up a rental car. Getting out from the airport in right direction was not easy but with guidance from our hand held GPS we got on the right track. First step on our journey was Lago di Maggiori, lunch and a stroll in a cold but beautiful Stresa. For the night we found a beautiful Villa north of Verbania where we were set up for the night and had an exquisit dinner before falling asleep. Next morning offered a classical view from our bed throught the open french doors out to the balcony with a view over the lake and the mountains as the sun rose. A classical view that made us fall in love with the place. The day brought us across the lake, ferry from Verbania to Laveno, and on to Lago di Como where we stayed in Bellagio for two days. A boat trip on the lake brought us to the small village of Varenna where we climed up to the top of a cliff admiring a breathtaking view, shopping some local made pottery before eating my lifes best ice cream on the way back. The nature and tha small towns around Lago di Como and Lago di Maggiori are wonderful and we will definatly come back and spend moore time in this area.
The final trip was back to Malpensa where the rental car was left and our flight brought us back to Sweden.
