Milan Train station - and shuttles

by ridgestreet

Are there two train terminals or stops in Milano, on the Bologna -> Milano Eurostar run? I read somewhere one is Milano Centrale and the other Girabaldi, is this true? If so which terminal/stop is closer to the eastern ring road of Milano? Ultimate goal is Linate aeroporto, and I don't want to waste time.

Where do I get the shuttles to Linate after disembarking the train in Milano. Can you tell I'm a novice?????

The Porta Garibaldi station is mainly for local trains. If you arrive from Bologna, not only with Eurostar, but also with any other train, you arrive at the Stazione Centrale.
The bus stop for the shuttles to Linate used be on the left-hand side of the building (from the perspective of those arriving by train) but after the refurbishing many things have changed, so on that side there are now taxis instead. I have not paid attention to where the buses stop now. If I find the information I will post it here.

Which train are you talking about? The Eurostar AV (Alta Velocita') trains are non-stop from Bologna to Milano Centrale, so no other stations. The Eurostar City trains also stop at Milano Rogoredo. I am guessing that you are talking about Milano Porta Garibaldi Station, but this station is to the west of Milano Centrale, so it's actually farther away from Linate; besides I am not sure how real of a station it is, as most Trenitalia routings have you getting there by going to Centrale, then taking the subway.

So, if you go to Centrale (as you have to for a lot of trains), it's not inconvenient because there are buses leaving every 30 minutes for Linate - see http://www.sea-aeroportimilano.it/en/linate/index.phtml?mod=per_scalo_scroll&to=come_arrivare

Rogoredo is indeed closer to Linate, but you would have to take city transportation to get to the airport, and I am not sure that it would be any faster, plus there's more of a chance of getting lost - the bus from Milano Centrale to Linate doesn't go anywhere else (except Lambrate, which is another train station).
