Pleasant Stay

by TripAdvisor Member Mandarin0

I am quite shocked to read some reviews, but I found the Gallia to be very nice. The hotel staff were very helpful. Our rooms were really nice and spacious and as for location, being right by the station this was ideal for us. I would definitely come back again as we had a pleasant stay and the breakfast was really really nice!

What's the problem?

by TripAdvisor Member TrippyTravels

This hotel has suffered from some pretty bad reviews. Having just come back from a short stay there I don't see why the hotel gets such a bad rap. True this is a "5 star" hotel that is actually closer to 4.5 but it was one of the cheapest hotels I could find in the 4-5 star category in Milan (I paid 130/ night). On top of that it has a great location next to the marvelous central train station and a 2 minute walk to the metro and street cars. Some have described the area as "shady" but I think you would be hard pressed to find any train station in any city of the world that is a great place to "hang" after dark. During the day I found the area to be pleasant and close to some good restaurants and cafes. The exterior of the hotel is stunning as is the lobby. I take away a 1/2 star because of the rooms which where huge by European standards and elegant, but showing their age slightly. Also the service was mostly antentive but a little uneven at times: we stepped out to grab breakfast at 10am and came back at 1130 --ahead of the noon checkout time--only to find that our eletronic key no longer worked in the door. After finally entering we found that the room had been serviced for a new guest eventhough our two packed bags were clearly visible sitting in the entrance way. A little strange I admit but not a big deal. You pay 5 star fees for parking ($20/day) breakfast ($36/day) and tips to the bellman but this is to be expected. Overall I think its a great place to stay and would recommend it to my friends.

Classy and well located

by TripAdvisor Member caviargal

I booked this hotel on Priceline for 100 USD a night. We were given a large and beautiful room with marble bath. Service was excellent and the hotel was very well maintained with style and character.

The location adjacent to the train station was excellent.

I would definitely stay here again, especially for the bargain price I received through PL.

Great hotel

by TripAdvisor Member jax2

Just returned from a visit to Milan, Had a wonderful time, lovely hotel. We booked direct with hotel, so we had better options! Room was excellent! spacious, clean, marble bathroom was very nice. If you do the bus trip your entry into the last supper is included, so you don't need to book before you go. Try La Briciola, via Solfeina, very nice restaurant. From the hotel to centre is about 7 euros in a taxi.

Even managed a visit to lake Como on the sunday 35 Mins by train, worth a visit!

The most wonderful hotel I have ever stayed!

by A TripAdvisor Member

I stayed Le Meridien Excelsior Gallia 2 nights.
The reason why I describe "The most wonderful hotel I have ever stayed!" is as follows.

1. Reasonable price even 5 star hotel in Milan, 18,000 Yen per night.
2. Kind concierge for the reservation of Last Supper with advance.
3. Exact recommendation by Japanese concierge, not only English!
3. No commission when I asked exchange from TC to Money.
4. Wide, Elegant, and Functional room design with broadband Internet access.
5. Wide, elegant, and functional bathroom with steam drying pipe.
6. Exact and quick response against my request.
7. Always caring the status of guest and room.
8. Very delicious and large serving dinner with unbelievable price.
9. Good timing for bringing my baggages to my room.

Please assume the situation you stay such hotel in Tokyo.
I believe you can hardly avoid the price not more than 50,000 Yen per night in Tokyo.
Even 70,000 Yen per night in Tokyo. you can hardly complain, "TOO EXPENSIVE".

Therefore, I would like to recomend to stay Le Meridien Excelsior Gallia strongly and request Le Meridien Excelsior Gallia to keep to be a good friend of Japanese Businessmen/Travellers.

Thank you.

Central Location

by TripAdvisor Member evsie

Situated next to the main railway station with a grand facade. We were staying for 3 nights and the reception was very efficient and the conciege gave us lots of help with our sightseeing trips.
The main rooms of the hotel have lots of marble floors and grand style decor and paintings. Has a sweeping main staircase leading to reception. Lifts are small and take only 4 people at a time.
The room was a good size with a king bed, fridge, marble bathroom and the air con. was efficient. We complained that the shower head needed de- scaling and this was done by the time we got back to the room.
Resturant has good proffesional service and the food was first rate if a little more expensive than outside restuarants but the dinning experience was very good. Main courses about 26 euro with starter about 16 euro.
The hotel bar was wood panelled with big art deco glass feautures. Good service but drinks are not cheap. You do get lots of crisps, nuts and olives with evening drinks. Hotel will arrange for private car transfer to the airport if needed.
Overall hotel was as stated, as a member of the leading hotels of the world,
has a good location for visiting all the sights in Milan with good help from the staff for an enjoyable stay.
