Brilliant Hotel
Just read a bad review on this hotel and concur it has some negatives - rooms a bit small, its not a fantastic area prostitutes work the same street and you need to walk 2 minutes to catch a tube to the centre (4 stops and 1 euro) but none of this was a problem there are some great restaurants within a couple of minutes walk as well as a cocktail bar and we even found beer at Euro 3 against 7-8 in the centre. But the hotel is fantastic realk 4* and as a bargain price Euro 79 for 2 people including a fantastic breakfast even has hot eggs and bacon or childrens lollipops if you prefer.

Just back from a 5 day whistle stop tour of Milano. Flew into Torino and took the train to the city centre. Take care it doesn’t go to the city centre so you have to bus, train or tax it at the other end. On the return trip we took the bus (coach) far quicker easier and cheaper ! ( look for a blue coach with SADEM written on the side it stop right outside departures)
First night was at Executive Residence which was the worst hotel we stopped at. Budget accommodation some walk from the main centre. Clean good sized rooms but the aircon was next to useless and they were not set up for breakfast the next day (looked like we were the only guests) having said that the receptionists were very helpful.
The next day we trained to Milano (allow an extra 20 minutes to get a ticket it’s a nightmare and don’t expect any customer service) or buy the night prior, don’t forget to validate it before use. We stopped at the Hotel Berna, about a 3 minute walk from the station in Milano. A brilliant hotel great service and fantastic prices we paid Euro79 for a twin room including a great breakfast. How many hotels have free chocolates at reception, free internet and free cans of soft drinks in the room? Prostitutes were obviously working the same street but they kept themselves to themselves.
Watch the beer and drink prices we paid Euro 8.30 for a can of coke in Milano close to the Dumo and beer at Euro 7 for 400ml was common.
A day trip to Stresa was well worth the break form the cities not that we could figure out the return ticket system and to go cost twice the price of cost to come back but at 12 Euro all in the rail fair was not bad at all for 2 one hour journeys
On our return to Torino we stayed at the Genova just a stomes throw from the railway station and another great find. The room décor was unbelievable never seen a hotel room like it and wish I had taken a picture. Down side was the aircon was off until June not that we needed it and breakfast was not as good as the Berna the night before but ok. Cost was Euro 150 for the twin room and in my opinion easily better value than the Euro 119 we paid on our first night at the Executive. The other plus point is it only about a 2 minute walk to catch the airport bus.
If you want to cheap trip to Milano a flight and train from Torino may just be the ticket you need.
