Milan Hotel

Hello VT'ers!

I'm looking for a 2-3 star hotel in the Galleria/Piazza Duomo section of Milan- any suggestions?

No laughs, but there is actually a decent 2 or 3 star named the Zuriga. It's a short walk to the Duomo section and I stayed there about 6 years ago... near lots of good restaurants and shops - not overpriced. As I remember, our room was air-conditioned which is a nice plus. I' m sure a Google would find it for you.

thanks- I'll check it out!

To be precise... it's the Hotel Zurigo. I checked it out and there is a website. It's a fairly decent place and includes a buffet breakfast (small, though, since it's Italy).

I stayed at Zurigo in March. It's still a fine place for the money and has a free breakfast and free Internet access while you're there. Terrible bar though. :-( However, it is not too far from the Duomo and has a metro stop right next to it.

Joe, that's good news about the Zurigo. I had good memories of the place but it's been awhile since we were there. I found it a very handy location.

Travelightly,

you are correct it is expensive. I was think about $100 US.

In reading guidebooks and web surfing, I'm now beginning to wonder if it would be cheaper to do a tour type thing through a travel agent, but honestly, I prefer the freedom of doing it on my own.

I think airfare is going to be expensive too as I am arriving/departing from different airports

. My itinerary so far is this:

Milan- Venice- Positano w/ Day trips along the amalfi- then to rome and fly home.

Any suggestions on how to cut down the cost of this trip?
