I'd just spent about half an hour walking and it was lunchtime. Since I'd parked my car about 50 metres from here and I was one of only two customers, I couldn't think of a better place to have a snack.
Thus I found myself on a glorious spring day taking in the sun's rays in la belle Italia at Bellavista Cafe. Bellisimo.
Piazza Zanelli (Zanelli Square) is located close to the Porta dell'Orologio. It has got nice palaces and on the right you can see the church of San Giovanni Battista (st.John the Baptist) which was built in the 12th century and restored in 1727.

Salò is a perfect place where to spend a weekend off the beaten path on Lago di Garda, quite far from Milan and its way of life. It is very close to Sirmione and you can reach the other side of the lake in only 20 minutes by ferry.
The town was founded in the Roman period as Pagus Salodium. In the 12th century it passed under the dominion of the Republic in Venice giving a notable development to the public architecture (you can see the Lions of Venice anywhere in the town. But the town became famous during the Second War Word when on October 1943 born the Repubblica Sociale Italiana and it was the home of the last government of Mussolini.
