Violin inventor?

Did you know that a guy from Salò invented violins? I found a statue of this guy, Gasparo Da Salò. It's located near the path along the lake. It's worth to walk around the lake-side wood deck when it's nice weather.

We haven t tried it, but this seems like a convenient thing to do when visiting around lake Garda.
Perhaps next year? haha at least I then will be able to tell you wether it was as expensive as a taxi ride by road ;-)

Duomo: interior

The interior of the Duomo has got three naves with the roof painting with geometric figures and angels. Inside you can see many important works of art. The main altar was made by Bartolomeo di Isola Veneziano (1333-1362) and the wooden crucifix was made by Pietro Bussolo (1475-1521). There you can see works of Guglielmo Veneziano, Gerolamo Romanino, Palma il Giovane and Andrea Celesti.

"Salo"

Salo is very attractive destination situated on the shore of a wonderful gulf. The village is probably the best known as the centre of the Italian Social Republic, from 1943 to 1945, when the Duce escaped here after the capitulation of Italy.
The town of Salo managed to preserves its beautiful Renaissance urban sheme.

"The promenade"

The promenade of Salo, facing the lakeshore, is in partilularly beautiful. It was opened in 1906 with the reconstruction of buildings in great part destroyed of the eartquake of 1901.

"Il Vittoriale degli Italiani"

The memorial complex of Vittoriale is situated just a few kilometres from Salo, actualy it is above Gardone Riviera. It has great signification for the Italian history and the people. Great Italian poet and politician, Gabriele D'Annunzio, lived here since 1921 to 1963 when he died and buried in the Mausoleum.
