Has anyone had experience with washateria type facilities in Sirmione or surrounding towns?

If the hotel doesn't have a machine to use, ask where the nearest facility is. You might also find cleaners that do it all for you (which is very handy and not terribly priced) or you will find a landromat. Either way will not be difficult.

Enjoy Sirmione, we live very near there and the area is quite nice!

The whole place looks very pitoresque, the streets are very clean, the facades of the houses well preserved or fresh coloured, while the windows and the balconies arranged by the flowers. The whole enviroment is attractive and invaiting.

"Sirmione on Lake Garda"

This town is famed for its poets, from Catullus to Arici to Carducci. It stands on a narrow spit of land the juts way out into Lake Garda, in the Alpine foothills of Lombardy. Unfortunately, my visit happened to be on a rainy day. But the town still exudes a certain charm and beauty.

No one knows where the name came from, perhaps a fusion of different names from different languages. The area has been inhabited since very ancient, probably Neolithic times.

In Roman times, several battles were fought in the vicinity, by the armies of Claudius, Trajan, and Constantine. Afterward, the Lombards ruled Sirmione for centuries. In 774, Charlemagne gave the land to a monastery, but then it passed to Patarine heretics. In the 13th century, the della Scala family took control. Sirmione joined the Venetian Republic in 1404, and then became part of the Cisalpine Republic, and in the 1860s part of unified Italy.

It remains a popular tourist spot. I hope your visit is on a nice, sunny day.
