"Venegono Superiore"
Venegono is a little town in the province of Varese, in the Italian region of Lombardy.
There's a Venegono Superiore and a Venegono Inferiore. They're basically attached and similar, though Venegono S. is more ancient and holds more historical value...
"The Lake Region"
Varese and its sorroundings are very pretty as it sits in the Lake Region (Lago Maggiore, Lago di Varese, Lago di Como, and Lago di Orta) and right adjacent to the Swiss Alps.
Lake Maggiore is the largest of the lakes, hence its name.
It's wider than the rest and contains several islands of which Isola Madre ("mother island"), Isola Bella ("beautiful island") and Isola dei Pescatori ("island of the fishermen"); all of which are inhabited and can be visited.
There is also a Castle in the middle of the lake... very picturesque!
In summer they have regattas in Lake Maggiore...
It's the best lake to drive your motorcicle around as the road winding around it is picturesque and not too dangerous.
Popular stops are at the towns of Arona, Stresa, and Laveno.
For those familiar, Lake Como is where scenes of Star Wars III were filmed.
This lake is narrower than Lake Maggiore with taller mountains and cliffs around it.
The drive around the lake is a little dangerous (very windy and narrow!) so do drive carefully!
You might be familiar with the town of Bellagio, of which the famous hotel in Las Vegas was fashioned to and named after. (no, no musical fountain here! lol!) :oD
Lago Orta is the smallest of the lakes. A little dark...
Known as the Lake of the Poets.
Lake Varese probably holds the least interest as there are not many mountains around it or famous historical spots...
...though it is the best place for those of you who like to camp and swim as it holds many beaches and campgrounds.
All the lakes are easily reached by public transportation (usually both the trains and the busses will take you to different spots around the lakes).
Ferries across the lakes and boat rides are available too...
...in summer you can even enjoy a dinner cruise!
The city of Varese sits in the Contrada del Seprio.
It's very green with lots of nice mountains and lakes.
Varese historically was the place where the rich aristrocrats of Milan had their pleasurable summer villas.
So it's adorned with magnificent villas from the Renaissance and lush gardens all over.
Beautiful in summer for walks, camping, and boat sailing... (it gets to +35?C in summer)
...and beautiful in winter as it's extremely close to most skiing regions and never colder than -5?C.
Perfect for camping and road trips around the Lakes and across the mountains!
