The Malpensa Airport has two terminals which are maybe 5 kilometers apart - really like two airports side by side. First Hotel is between the two terminals and the directions they give are just fine. It takes literally 5 minutes in the hotel van.
The hotel is fresh and clean with a nice big breakfast room in the -1 floor. The price was 99 euors for two - a real bargain for the area.
But what is really special about them is this: we had many huge suitcases and a box - from our daughter graduating from school in Lugano and packing up to come home - and they very kindly stored them all for a week while we toured around Italy. One thing - the drinks in the lobby bar are very very expensive.
They also recommended a little restaurant about three blocks away (it is a suburban neighborhood type of area), that was really super - one of the best meals we had in Italy and very reasonably priced. Be reminded that most restaurants in Italy operate from 12-12:30 and 7:30-10:00.
A Great Airport Hotel
We spent one night at the First Hotel Malpensa in September. We chose the hotel due to it's vicinity to the airport as we were arriving fairly late. It was a very clean and nice hotel with a friendly staff. The rooms were of an average size for Europe. Getting to the hotel was a challenge. There are several round abouts when you leave the airport and each exit contains 10-15 signs which are impossible to read when traveling at any speed. Even though they are within sight of the airport, it took us 40 minutes to locate them. We met up with another car load of people who had been looking for the same hotel for an hour. We decided to pull over at every turn off and read all of the signs until we located the hotel. After that, it was fairly easy to find them.
The only disappointment was the cost of appetizers at the bar. By the time we finally arrived and checked in, it was 9:30pm and we really didn't want an entire meal, so we all decided to share two salami and two cheese trays. The cost was 12 Euro per plate, for a total of 48 Euro. For that kind of money, we expected a fairly ample serving on each plate. Were we in for a surprise. Suffice it to say that the men ended up hungry and finished up with cookies to hold them over until morning. The complimentary breakfast was very good. It had eggs, salami, cheese, fruit, etc. It was the only time we saw an egg for breakfast while we were in Italy.
All in all, it was a nice hotel and we'd stay there again if we flew into Milan.
Conveniently located, friendly and comfortable hotel
This hotel is a clean modern airport hotel - nothing special, but comfortable and functional. We had room 310 which had a nice large bed and large bathroom. Minibar and wireless internet access available. Friendly & helpful staff. Hotel restaurant is lacking in atmosphere but the food is lovely and the service was great. We also had great service in the bar, where we went for a drink after dinner.
The hotel is very well located to the airport (only 2 minutes to terminal 2 - free transfer by hotel bus). Good value.
Consistently good in proximity to Malpensa
I have stayed at this hotel a half dozen times in the last year. It is the best hotel in close proximity to Malpensa Airport. While a little expensive, the staff is generally friendly, rooms are clean & modern. A high point for this type of hotel is the dinner service at the restaurant - food is authentic and quite good, and they have a reasonable selection of half bottle Italian wines for the single business traveler.
Great little hotel near the airport
We stayed here May 29 and the service was excellant, especially for 125 euros. We phoned them when we arrived by bus from the train terminal in Milan and they were at the terminal in 10 minutes exactly and they arranged for the shuttle the next morning. It is 5 mintues from the airport but no noise. You might want to eat before arriving becasue the food is expensive, but otherwise, this is an excellant choice.
Probably a typical airport hotel
Restaurant nearby and mini-bar available, but we had packed a picnic dinner to munch while re-packing. We couldn't get the room cool enough for comfort. No matter how hard we tried it wouldn't budge any lower than 22 degrees, which is warm if you are shuffling luggage and readying for a flight. The shower handle fell off on us and had to be fixed. Saw tiny ants in the room near the window.
We were annoyed that the hotel didn't give us more specific instructions on how/where to return a rental car at Malpensa. A word to the wise: if you don't make a quick left when you see the car hire signs, you end up in long-term parking, and end up paying the minimum fee (10 euros).
Be sure you let the desk know asap what time you need to be at the airport, lest you are forced to do as we did and take an earlier shuttle than necessary because the best one is all booked. We missed breakfast because of that, so we cannot report on same.
We stayed and played for hours
