Harbor offices
by JLBG
The building in the middle of the photo is for custom offices and the offices of the shipping companies for checking in. It stands in the middle of the pier and you have to drive between the building and quay to reach the line for your ferry.
Port
by Airpunk
Ancona’s port has a long tradition. It was founded by the romans in the second century BC and became a gate to other adriatic cities. The port has kep this role until today so that still a number of freighters and passenger ferries are seen in the port of Ancona. Their main destinations remain Croatia, Albania and Greece. While I was in the old town, I watched a ferry (the one to the right of the Jadrolinija ship) backing into its parking space. It looked like ballet, just with a very heavy ballerina.
The Port of Ancona
by xristos83
Yes, Ancona probably would be much prettier if some of the eyesores on the port were torn down... but otherwise the city wouldn't prosper as much as it does now. Despite some of the ugly industrial cranes and storage tanks (I GUESS that's what some of them are), enjoy the views of the city from the street along the harbor. One of my favorite memories was sitting with friends on a platform looking toward the duomo. Our feet would be dangling over the edge above the water, a huge ferry from Croatia would be docked next to us, and we would dream of getting on the boats heading out to Athens, Patras, Crete, Dubrovnik, and Istanbul. Alas...most people only come to Ancona to do just that, but we were "locals".
Museo Archeologico Nazionale delle Marche
by Willettsworld
The museum began in 1860 as the regional Archaeological Cabinet of the Commission of Monuments. It then became the National Archaeological Museum in 1906. The building used to belong to the Ferretti family in the 16th century. The museum displays a large collection of Greek, Gallic and Roman art and is worth a visit.
Open: 8.30am-7.30pm Tue-Sun.

it was my first time in italy ,and it looked exactly how one wood imagine it
quazzi james bond with the monte carlo buildings and shop fronts martini neon lights it was all real quite magical
it also felt very reasuring i never felt any sense of danger it was like being in bornmouth very tranquil and so charming
after seeing other citys on the train with rich terocotta ancona was a bit more classial and darker stoned

and the baots sailing off to greece, on the night sky twinkling over the
horizon, mooonlight too

the night life was modern inteligent and fashionble
there was no inpulsive trend towards degeratation in 1994
drum and bass wasnt quite invented in europe then
but i guess its a jazzy snazzy place now
it also had this kind of american zing in the metal of the town
it had the late 50s american grafitti feel to it
in the youth culture as the commuted about on vespas
and micro fiat cars
