Stacy T

My boss' family is from Fano and I would really like to get him a gift from there. He is a successful business man who travels quite a bit; therefore, I was initially thinking of purchasing a business card holder, maybe leather, that he could carry with him during travels. I am not familiar with Fano and have had difficulty locating a local merchant to shop for merchandise. I am not set on a business card holder, but definitely want something from Fano. Any direction would be greatly appreciated. Thank you, Stacy

Hi Stacy,

My wife is from Fano and we live a few towns inland from there. Fano has a lot of shops but are difficult to access without actually being there. There are some books available on the town, the main piazza and even the Carnivale that you may be able to find online. I also just published a book of watercolors in this area that you can see here: http://www.lulu.com/content/821670

Let me know if you need help getting anything specific, I could help get it to you.

Ciao,
Scott

Travel Tips for Fano

The church close to the train station

by Airpunk

If you see the signs “chiesa” close to the train station, don’t even think about following them. You will be led closer to the coast and instead of an interesting renaissance or medieval church, you will see this building from the second half of the 20th century. Perhaps, when I become old and wizened it will become interesting – today it’s just a boring 19something church.

Gelato!!! Tip4.

by Fjord87

How to eat it?
This is surprisingly important. There are some dangers in eating ice cream. They have to do with messing yourself up and not looking elegant while eating your ice-cream. ;). Here I have listed them and given some tips how to avoid these dangers.

1. The gelato melts faster than you can eat it.
In all gelaterías they have spoons. They might look funny, but with a cone of three balls of ice-cream it really helps. It's a good way to eat it faster and still enjoy it! So take a spoon from the gelatería or ask for one if they are not visible. "Vorrei un cucchiaino, grazie!" (Means: I would like a little spoon, thank you!"

2. Another part of the gelato is falling down when I'm eating the other part. Don't worry. If you use a spoon it will be easy to control your ice-cream.

3.The cream inside the cone bursts out.
Be careful! If this happens, you're sure to have cream all over your pants/skirt. So once you've eaten the gelato and the cone and the cream inside it is all that's left, don't start taking big bites, cos the pressure might break the bottom of the cone and then the cream will fall on your lap. So be careful!

This is basicly all. Besides this, gelato is nothing but a pleasant experience. I STRONGLY RECOMMEND IT!
