Friendly Hotel Argentina in Sunny Senigallia.

"The Hotel Argentina in Senigallia."

We travel quite a bit throughout the year, normally visiting places for the first time, occasionally we will go back to somewhere special, but in general we like to see new and different things. Our first encounter with the Hotel Argentina was at Falconara Airport when we saw a man holding a sign with our name on. Now, for those who don't know, Falconara is a one carousel airport, planes land every now and then, it is not a JFK or Heathrow, so to see the name "BATES" on a card in the arrivals hall was a surprise, and one we were not expecting. It turned out to be held by a chap called Alberto Tassi, who is one of the family that runs the Hotel Argentina. When I spoke to him, he took our cases and put them in a car with his Father, and set us off to Senigallia while he waited for other visitors on the same flight. We arrived and tried to pay Mr Tassi Senior for his journey, but he would not accept anything and grabbed our cases and took us in to the reception of the hotel, where his Daughter-In-Law greeted us and took our details for the register, before directing us to the third floor and a sea view room overlooking the beautiful Adriatic.
During our week at the Hotel Argentina, we got to know the Tassi family, Alberto and his Wife and young Son, his Father and Mother, and all the staff. They would always give us a Buon Giorno and smile, and nothing was too much trouble for any of them. The hotel itself was small but beautifully kept and immaculately clean. The staff came in every day and made the beds and changed the towels, cleaning as they went. It had a lift and a television room next to a bar. There was a fair sized dining area with a good wine list at reasonable prices. Outside the hotel they had tables and chairs near to the pavement, which was across the one-way road from the main promenade. You could sit out there with your morning Cappuccino and watch the holiday-makers walking up and down, taking in the fresh air and wonderful sunshine.
One day my Wife decided that we needed to go for a walk along the promenade, unfortunately we had no idea how long the promenade was, and seven kilometres later we arrived at the next town, Marzocca. Well, after a one-stop train journey back to Senigallia, and a ten minute walk to the hotel, we were greeted by Alberto with two bottles of beer and a "you look like you need these". After we explained what we had been up to, he asked if we had been to Corinaldo yet. We had heard of Corinaldo from a young girl at the Tourist Information, and she said that it was difficult to get to by bus, however it was worth the trouble. Since we had not hired a car but used the train, we thought we wouldn't bother with a multiple bus trip up into the hills. But Alberto wanted us to see it, so he made arrangements to meet us in reception at 4.30pm when his Wife took over the front desk, and he would run us up there. And that is what happened, he was outside in his car at 4.35pm and whisked us out to the hills of Corinaldo, and were we glad that he did. We spent an hour touring the medieval walled town and it's beautiful churches. Alberto explained the history of the town, and of Italy and it's unification from being warring regions to a country made whole in the 19th century. Afterwards, he drove us to the hills overlooking Senigallia, where we had a wonderful view of the town as the sun was setting in the distance.
At the end of our week with the Tassi family, Alberto drove us back to the airport, shook our hands, and bid us a safe journey home to Liverpool, hoping to see us again sometime in Senigallia. After the way we were treated by Alberto and his family at the Hotel Argentina, he can be sure that he will see us again before too long, and again, and again, and next time we will bring our friends to experience the lovely friendy people of La marche.

"The Rotonda a Mare in Senigallia."

This is a fascinating place to visit, which is called the Rotonda a Mare. It is the symbol of Senigallia as a holiday town and a marvellous example of seaside architecture from the last century.
The Rotonda a Mare was restored recently, bringing this wonderful structure back to its original splendour, but with a new a modern twist. It contains a large seating area and a walk-way around the outside, offering views up and down the thirteen kilometres of sandy beaches.

"Beautiful Butterfly made from Bottles."

At the river end of the Via Carducci, you will see this beautiful Butterfly which is constructed from the bottoms of coloured bottles. Stroll along this tree lined avenue towards the arch at the far end, looking in the shops and stopping for a drink in the Bar Giusi. Make sure and take some photographs while sitting in their "Emmanuelle" style Peacock Whicker chairs.
