Hotel San Remo: Best of All Hotels

We visited this hotel in May and were very pleased. Where else in a large hotel would the owners greet you at the desk, wait your table and cook your food. These owners put their hearts into making it a friendly and comfortable place to stay.
They have a chef trained in cuisine that is meant to please. You can eat inside or out, and your stay comes with the dinner and breakfast. Usually we find that the dinner is not exceptional in this kind of hotel, but this food was way over the top.
The rooms were clean, and our room had a huge terrace that looked over the beach. You could hold a large party in it!
Bathroom was modern and the shower was not the typical Italian, phone booth size shower....
They have a bar and comfortable seating.

Unique Quality: No pool, the beach is 100 steps away, and they provide chairs and umbrellas for the guests. You get tired of the beach, take a fee bike and go for a ride along the safe bikeway.

Lastly, all the beach hotels all along the Italian coast seemed to be built in the 70's with little taste. Huge concrete buildings with small terraces and strange colors, some of them. This is NOT one of them. This hotel looks like it belongs along a Mexican beach, or even Santa Barbara. It is smaller and gives you a good feeling. When you add in how great the owner treats you, you know you made the right choice.
They speak English, and if you catch them at a good time you can have an interesting conversation about food preperation, and hotel management.
August is the most expensive season, as Italy unloads its cities and everyone goes on vacation. So expect the prices to be a lot more everywhere.
