Cinque Terre Hotels

by nanct45

I am looking to visit Cinque Terre in early June. Does anyone have suggestions for places to stay, or have knowledge of hotels, especially in Monterosso? I want to have a reservation before I leave home. Thanks!

Hi..I just returned from Cinque Terre last week. I stayed in Manarola at a terrific little BB perched high on the hill:

You can find Monterosso accomodations thorugh this site and book in advance:

I'll be posting my pics over thenext few days. I have a few up already if you want to take a look.

Happy Travels!

I just had a daytrip with the boat to the Cinque Terre, landing in Vernazza and Monterosso al Mare.

I personally think Vernazza is a much more interesting place to stay overnight and see the place without the daytourists.

Monterosso has a nice beach, but the Cinque terre-feeling is completely different there.

i would book now if i were you...the place is so packed in the summer...i have spent the last five summers in monterosso, for about two months at a time. i know the people in the town well and have a few great hints for you. monterosso is broken into two "towns"...the new side of town (where the train station is) and then the old side of town, (through a tunnel, where you find the returants and the internet cafes, and the pubs and the wine bars). the hotels on the new side of town are more expensive, but some have ocean views. there is great one on the old side of town called hotel sovenigere (sp?). anyways, two great web sites...www.fishnet.it, or www.monterossonet.com...they have information on them, and are helpful. the lady that owns the fish net if from texas, and she will respond back to you if you have questions. i rent out a small apartment when i am there up on the hill from a family i have come to know over the years. if you are young and traveling, you can always walk into the internet cafe, (ask for ENZO) and someone can always find you a room. many townspeople rent just open rooms or apartments to travelers to make cash on the side. they are usually just right too. and nothing in the town is too far away, it is pretty small, everything is in walking distance. enjoy, i might see ya there...!!! if you meet sean, and american guy who lives in the town, he gives great hikes and sunset boat trips. usually arranges groups, and takes them out. now i am blabbering too much. check the sites out, they should help. the best thing to eat there are the stuffed mussels at returante belvedere...the moggia family owns it and a hotel on the new side of town...it is a beautiful place with friendly people. ciao!

oh, i am 24 female from california, and happend to stumble on monterosso five years ago when i was visiting a friend who was studying abroad. she took us there for the weekend, and i never left. i spent a month in a half there the first year, and then two months there after each summer!

Travel Tips for Monterosso

Le Cinque Terre

by Nexus7

Monterosso is the largest and furthest north. Lodging is easiest to find there, but Vernaza has the most spectacular topography. It's really incredible. As you can see no more than a few kilometers separate each villa which makes a nice walk, and when you get down to Riomaggorie, you simply take the train back to your town of stay.

This is a view of Monterosso facing the hills it sits on.

The inner streets of Le Cinque Terre. This is the largest street which golf carts barely fit on. Other streets barely fit people. Bustling little community. Mostly tourists, but highly recommended.
