"SAN GALGANO'S ABBEY"
Near Monticiano, about 10 minutes of car to do, there is San Galgano's Abbey.
This ancient abbey, dated 1100 - 1200, is still on its feet despite, further to continuous pillages aside mercenaries of iron (take away from the roof for make arms), the construction is incomplete.
Don't marvel yourselves if you will find an abbey without roof, windows and main door...it is really for this unique characteristic that it is particullary and fantastic to see.
"THE SWORD...THE PROMISE"
After a little walk, uphill, on a little hill, you will find the retreat where a knight decided to remain after the promise that he never more would have had on his hands any arm.
For make this promise true, he put his sword in a rock.
He was Saint Galgano, the Abbey takes its name from him.
