If you like a really good ice-cream I would advice to go to 'Il Moro' in Gavi but you have not to pay attention to conventions because the local is fairly sloppy in spite of its real Tonnet chairs, straw chairs of an expensive trade mark, and the real old marble tables. But the owner is an eccentric character and when he doesn't feel like, he just places the counter of the ice-creams in the middle of the way without caring of what time it is and it's a sign you cannot enter the local any more and the ones inside had better go... but his ice-creams are really tasty and he also has a very good choice of the wines of the region!
But there are also 4 stars restaurants like 'Villa Pomela', in the picture, on the street to Serravalle, where I went invited to a marriage party.
And a friend of mine heartly advised to me an agriturismo, Cascina degli Ulivi, of which I'll give you all particulars and menus as soon as I go there!
