Walled window
by JLBG
In a small street of the old city center I found that a walled window had been painted with a design that looks almost Indian with great flowers hanging from a tree while doves (are they really doves ?) stand or fly on each corner. That is certainly nicer than a plain concrete walled window, isn’t it ?
Other Bolets
by JLBG
Besides Boletus edulis, several closely related species, all of them equally delicious are also sold. Among them, a dark species, Boletus aereus, called Porcino nero, Boleto bronzeo, Bronzino in Italian and Cèpe tête de Nègre in French. "Non si tocca !" (do not touch !)
The second photo shows a close up of two Bronzino and the third photo shows specifically the brown reddish network on the stem.
Roasted chestnuts
by JLBG
On Piazza Savone, this strange booth looks more or less like an old locomotive trailing a small train. The second photos allows to see better that it is a booth to roast chestnuts, that are sold, together with sweets and various drinks, in the "train" part.
Ospedale civico di San Lazzaro
by JLBG
In a small street, somewhere between Via Roma and via Cavour stands a huge grayish building. On top of the main entrance, a sign says “Ospedale civico di San Lazzaro” (Saint Lazare Civilian Hospital). It should have been built at the end of the 19th century and I swear that this is not the kind of place where you would want to spare your holidays !
