Travel Tips for Alba

Street musician

by JLBG

In via Cavour, on Saturday, I heard several times the sound of an accordion but it never lasted long enough to find where it was coming from. Finally, on Sunday, I could see that it was a little man with strange clothes that went out of a café, played a few times on his accordion in the street and went back into the café where he disappeared.

Look at these fruits !

by JLBG

Look at these fruits : yummy oranges, sweet pears, juicy kiwis ! Everything is superb magnificently fresh. When you see fruits like that, you would buy everything and never go again in a supermarket ! That is a dream, unfortunately !

Pears

by JLBG

To finish with, why not to taste some of those delicious pears ? Moreover, if what you want is an alcohol, they can give "grappa di pere" (pear brandy), a marvel, that I strongly advise to drink iced, not with an added piece of ice, really iced.

Cortile della Maddalena

by JLBG

Il cortile della Maddalena is a wide, enclosed place (entrance shown on the first photo), now owned by the city and used for all the important events. During the Truffle fair, it hosted the exhibition of local cheeses and sausages for sale.

The second photo shows the display "Fiera Nazionale del tartufo bianco d'Alba" (Alba's White truffle National Fair).

The third photo shows a strange "sculpture" on display in the Cortile.

Vini, tartufo e tajarin.....

by piccolina

Standing on the right side of the Tanaro, Alba attracts and elaborates the production and the initiative of this part of Piemonte, representing the interests and interpreting its aspirations, as a confirmation of how much it represented, in the passed years, takeover of ligures, municipium of free Roman.
In the age of the lordships no king, between the many adventurers who struck the Langhe, occupied it therefore to create one dynasty: trace remains in everyone of hundred red towers that exalted the magnificent medievale richness.
Alba is famous in all the world for the TARTUFO, every year in october there are an important fiera about and the "Palio degli asini".
