Restaurants
by deannewheeldon
What are the best restaurants in Bra and surrounding areas? We are going this fall and staying in Bra. We will be going to the surrounding wineries. We have rented a car, have a GPS and love to try out of the way places. We love the local foods as well as the Michelin restaurants.
Thanks so much in advance,
Deanne

try this one: La Madernassa.
it is located on top of a hill near Alba (17km away from Bra; not easy to find, so your gps will be usefull).
I live in Torino, and when I want to escape for a dinner out with a girl, I go there. At sunset it has a dramatic view over the vineyards (an easy hit ;-).
And even more it has very good food at a correct price.
With warm weather consider to spend there also the afternoon before dinner, in their beautiful swimmingpool.
Ciao
Marco
Travel Tips for Bra
Unsophisticated old wooden doors
by JLBG
The first photo shows an unsophisticated old wooden door, which is obviously very old. It was certainly not the entrance of a fancy house but may be to stables. It is made of plain horizontal boards of cheap wood with hand wrought iron nails.
The second photo shows another old wooden door. This one also was obviously and is still the entrance to some facility and not to a house.
Sculpted door in dark oak.
by JLBG
As you can see from the previous pictures, what is the most striking in Bra was the great many sculpted wooden doors. I have tried to photograph those that were the most characteristic. The one on the first photo is a heavily carved oak door, which must correspond to a wealthy house as oak is not found around Bra.
The second photo shows another door, most likely to be made of oak too and also most likely to have been carved by the same joiner as the style is almost the same.
Tintoria
by JLBG
I took this photo of a "Tintoria" (Dry cleaner) because I felt that the design of the window was not common, with these plaster curls. Should that be considered as Rococo style ? I am not an expert, but I feel it is.
