The main Piazza
They say Balzac described Lake Orta as "the most romantic of lakes". I have not been able to find where and when he wrote so, but he was certainly right.
The lake is not so famous as the larger ones Como, Maggiore and Garda, but it is even more charming.
The small town of Orta San Giulio and its small island are wonderfully picturesque.
