Hello,

I have a couple of questions about attending a wedding this summer in Pallanza.

Our friends are getting married at Chiesa San Leonardo, then at the Majestic Hotel. Is it tradition to wear a hat at such a wedding?

Also, i am thinking of booking either the Hotel Novara or Villa Azalea. I can see on the map the walking distance is only about 10 minutes to the church and venue. Has Villa Azalea got any major disadvantages over Novara? Is the hill walk very steep into the centre? (manageable in heels?)

Any help greatly appreciated!

The only disadvantage of Villa Azalea is that it is not so close to the church as the Hotel Novara. The walk from Villa Azalea to the church is downhill, so it is probably not ideal on heels. This is my personal point of view, because I don't wear heels very often.
About hats, nowadays they are seldom seen at Italian weddings, but you would not be considered outdated or "strange" if you wear one. If you prefer not to stand out you should ask the other guests if they will be wearing hats or not.
