Lovely hotel - shame about the room.
This is a "hotel residence" overlooking Lake Maggiore. It is at the southern end of the town, but Stresa is small and everywhere is within 1km or so. The term "hotel residence" mesans that they have self catering facilities in the room which you can use if you stay for 1 week.
Staff have excellent English (which I wouldn't need in France, great linguist that I am) and are eager to please.
Breakfast not worth 10 euro - it wasn't the pig-out mega- eurobreakfast I have enjoyed at golf resorts in Spain and Portugal. Terrace overlooks the lake, and is delightful on a sunny morning.
We had a quibble. We booked a "side lake view room". This means - quite reasonably - that you can't see the lake from inside your apartment but you can from the balcony. HOWEVER - not in room 104, which balcony is shared with another apartment, and to separate you from them there are 1.5m high bushes which completely obstruct your view of the lake. And we got told off for moving the plants! Hmm!
