Air cond. not working. Can hear everything in adjacent rooms - alarm clocks, phones, talking etc.
Fortunately I had quiet neighbours.
The restaurant is in a different building to the rooms and you have to cross an alleyway to get there - not a problem unless it is windy and you have long hair.

The bar is very small and not really useful, but there are plenty around the local square.

This hotel is not 4* from what I can see.

The serving staff were always friendly and helpful with me, but other people had a few problems I think.
No toast at breakfast and generally limited buffet breakfast.

Unique Quality: On lake front if that is important to you.

Near embarkation point for boats.

This hotel is located right opposite the ferry point and is on the main lake road. However, I found the hotel to be relatively quiet for a town centre hotel (although it is next to the infamous church of the 7.45 am bell!). The hotel is perhaps lucky to be a four star, given that is missing a pool (guests can use the pool at the Regina Palace - but I couldn't be bothered to trek down there) or gym facilities. However, the food is excellent and you dine in a lovely old fashioned dining room, part of which looks out over the road. Overall, the 'feel' of the hotel is welcoming. Nowhere in Stresa is cheap, but the hotel is cheaper than the large hotels along the promenade.

Unique Quality: There is a quirky sense of individuality in this hotel with an old fashioned but comfortable lounge and a interesting - and surely unique - collection of match boxes displayed in the public areas.
