If you go in Turin you must see Via Po and the surrounding area, in the centre of city, then you can go for shopping in Via Roma, from there you can visit the headquarters of the Baroque city and the ruins of the Romans city ( Castello Square, Madama Square, Royal Palace and Royal Gardens...)
Chocolate
by ant1606
Cocoa was first brought to Torino in late 16th century but it took a couple of centuries before it became available as an ingredient. Torino is credited to be the official worldwide birthplace of chocolate in the form we all know, which soon developed in the typical "Gianduiotto" where powdered locally grown hazelnut is part of the mix. This delicacy is presented as the unmistakable golden wrap in its triangular shape. Beware of the addiction it generates!
Piazza CLN
by Jetgirly
Piazza CLN is located midway up Via Roma. It features two beautiful statues, a male representing the River Po and a female representing the River Dora. The name stands for the Council for National Liberation. Like Villa Scott, scenes from Dario Argento's Deep Red (Profondo Rosso) were shot here.
GTT
by Mikebond
GTT (Gruppo Torinese Trasporti) is the operator of public transport in Torino. Its network consists of around 70 bus lines, 8 tram lines, some local railway lines and, since 4th February 2006, one metro line. I liked to see the modern trams, which are very beautiful.
However, if you want to visit the centre of Torino, where the main attractions lie, you don't need to use public transport, unless you are very lazy or tired. I tooked the bus only to go to see the exhibition of the Impressionists (see "Off the Beaten Path").
There are many different tickets, according to your needs. The basic ticket costs 0.90 euro and entitles you to travel on all GTT vehicles for 70 minutes.
