Turin Marathon
by ant1606
The 2008 edition of the Turin Marathon took place on April 13, with its start and finish organized in Piazza Castello. The event included the game-competition run of 1,195 m for kids.
Other yearly classic running events of the day were the fund-raising Stratorino and the Tuttadritta, two occasions for competitors and non-competing participants who just enjoy being out there, many showing off their costumes or weird vehicles, or walking their dogs.
The marathon was participated and concluded by an Italian guy who just established the amazing world record of 51 marathon runs completed in 51 consecutive days!
Despite it was election day, the streets were filled with thousands of citizens and visitors enjoying a city-wide party. We, as well as thousands of others, took out our bicycles to wander around in perfect weather conditions.
Other events of the day in town were the ULEB European basketball cup finals, the Italian Diving Championships and the Supermoto GP.
So much to do in Torino for sport lovers!

Fred Flintstone's brontosaurus ribs
by marco2005 about MACELLERIA
ristorante MACELLERIA review
The name means Butchery, and this is what they promise.
Meat, meat, and meat.
Believe it or not, but in this restaurant you cannot find any pasta dish!
The menu can turn crazy a vegetarian: there are only few dish without meat, but if enter in a Macelleria you have to know what to expect.
The chef dares to present a bit innovative cuisine with the hors d'ouvre, up to you decide if you like it or not.
The main course offers beef and horse meat. The Argentine fillet that I took was excellent (yabba-dabba-do)
The wine list is most red of course, with some "heavy" bottles (in alchol and price).
I checked this on 28 dec. 2005.
Open since May 2005, close to Piazza Vittorio, near many others restaurants and pubs.
The interior are in the now "classic" movida style: clean but cold.
Funky Cafe and Aperitivos
by Jetgirly about La Drogeuria
La Drogeuria is located on Via Po, in Piazza Vittoria Veneto. It is a funky little cafe and bar, with comfortable rooms designed to look like your living room. There is lots of seating that sprawls two levels. DJs spin funky music and aperitivos are served nightly at about 7.00. During aperitivo hour, cocktails cost about € 6 and the buffet includes pizza, fresh vegetables, grilled potatos, deep fried zucchini and canapes. Be careful... although the buffet is delicious, it can be a bit on the greasy side! Clients tend to be in their twenties and early thirties. If you want to try a new drink, consider their version of a Cosmopolitan which is thick, syrupy, made with blueberry juice and the strongest cocktail I've ever tasted!
