Hi folks
I will be arriving at 21.30, so probably will get to Bari stazione Centrale about 22.20 on Sat 12th Feb, I am going to the hotel Rondo next to Corso Alcide de Gasperi.
I hate taking taxis and I cannot make sense of the bus timetables from the websites I have tried, it looks a straight run up on Google earth, does anyone know what bus number I need, and more importantly where the stop physically is thank you.
1. You're arriving where at 21:30? The airport? Then taking a bus to the central train station?
2. Did you see the instructions at the hotel's website?
"From Railway Station
Straight forward side Capruzzi street, using the pedestrian underground gateway, only just outside turn left and straight forward; in corso Benedetto Croce there is the A.M.T.A.B. line 4 stop bus that lead to Carbonara (frazione di Bari); please go down to "Rondò Hotel" stop. "

(hint: this isn't the best translation...what they're saying is go out the side entrance of the station on Via Capruzzi, use the pedestrian underground walkway, once outside of it, turn left and go straight ahead. On Corso Benedetto Croce, there is a city bus stop for line 4 that goes to Carbonara (a suburb of Bari), and get off at the Rondo Hotel stop (I am sure you can ask those around you or the driver))
3. This is the official schedule of line 4 - http://www.amtabservizio.it/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=52&Itemid=67
Note that its last run begins not far from the train station at 23:00, so you don't have lots of time. It's common that Italian urban bus systems start winding down at midnight in the really big cities and at 11:00 p.m. for smaller cities.
Also note that the stop they list is "Carbonara" (the suburb), which stop I hope is next to the hotel...well, the driver for sure will know where the hotel is...
Does this make sense?
Bill
Yes Mccalpin I am arriving at the Airport at 21.30 so I am going to get the Amtab line 16 or the Tempesta bus into town, whichever comes first.
That is very helpful I am sussing it out on Google Earth street view now, thanks a lot.

The North door is called the Porta Leoni because its lateral columns are supported by carved lions. The impost blocks of the columns have carved figures representing 2 of the labors of the months. The lintel , jambs and capitals are nicely figured as well. The carving of the Arch shows deeds of chivalry. The South door is similar in program but fate has not preserved it as well. The tympani are not worked.
La mia seconda casa...quindi non posso non parlare di Bari, una città grossa ma che ha anche tante cose da scoprire al suo interno! Per ora lascio le foto... Cose da non perdere:
- lungomare
- città vecchia "Barivecchia"
- via Sparano e zona centrale, shopping e vera zona dei cittadini baresi
