From cruise terminal to Old town

I will be on MSC Cruise from Venice to Bari as first stop. Within 5 hours, how can one go to town from the port by oneself, any public transport or just walk.

We did the same port last year. There are plenty of taxis waiting as you walk out past the security area. It is walkable on your own, although we didn't see much of interest. We decided to get a driver to take us to Alberobello (I have some pics posted on that page) which is about an hour's drive one way. Nothing to see along the way but we thought the sights in the city were worth the trip.

Visit Bari old city. It is the best preserved medieval city in Europe and well worth a visit. It's only about a ten to fifteen minute walk from the port and you'll have plenty of time for a wander round and have a bite to eat (or just a drink) at one of the piazza cafes. It's great place and this time of the year should still have good weather.

The"Palazzo della Provincia" of Bari,designed by Luigi Baffa and situated on the Lungomare Nazario Sauro,houses the Pinacoteca Provinciale (Provincial Art Gallery),in which are exposed not only a great collection of Apulian paintings from XI to XX century (among the others,Saverio Altamura,Giuseppe de Nittis and Francesco Netti of the XIX century),but also a medieval division with sculptures and icons,and a division dedicated to the Venetian painting of the XV and XVI centuries,with works by Antonio and Bartolomeo Vivarini,Giovanni Bellini,Paris Bordone,Veronese("Madonna in gloria con le Sante Orsola e Caterina") and Tintoretto("Cristo che appare a San Rocco tra gli appestati").

ALBEROBELLO is situated upon...

ALBEROBELLO is situated upon two hills, once separated by a riverbed.
The western hill is covered by one-thousand-and-one TRULLIs spread in the tortuos streets of the town. A trullo is a construction of ancient origin made of calcareous rocks. Thanks to an ingenious inner tube that conditions the environment, trullo is a cool place during the summer and warm during the winter.

Ancona, Bari and Brindisi is busy ports on Italy's Adriatic coast, where regular ferry services carry passengers to places like Croatia and Greece.
