Great High Tech Hotel in Convienent Location
by TripAdvisor Member smnnyc
The Hotel Dei Cavalieri was a fantastic place to stay in Milan. We were only there for two nights in July 2005, but the staff was exceptionally accomodating. The hotel itself is by far the most high-tech hotel I have ever seen. It is also very clean and very quiet. Located right by the Duomo, the Hotel is amazingly convienent and is right across the street from a metro stop and within walking distance to some of the best shopping in the world. Our first night there we arrived quite late and had to eat dinner in the hotel's restaurant. This is something I normally refuse to do, but the restaurant, located in the rooftop garden, was quite cute and very tasty. If I return to Milan, I would definitely stay in the Hotel Dei Cavalieri again.
Top class Milan stay
by TripAdvisor Member PWF
Stayed at the Hotel dei Cavalieri for 5 nights in October 2005. Excellent room (though the double bed was 2 singles), spacious, top quality (but not cheap !) lobby bar. Superb location for metro, tram, and Il Duomo is a 5 minute walk away. Quiet too (though we were on the 9th floor). Good continental breakfast although there was a 20 minute wait on the Saturday (bizarrely, they won't sit 2 couples at a table set for 4 - this would have removed the queue at a stroke !). Staff are mature and friendly. Roof-top worth a visit (on a clear day) for the view. Good price deal over weekend made it a very enjoyable stay.
The best of Milano
by TripAdvisor Member amicus1945
Two days in Milano in September turned out to be a true delight because of the Dei Cavalieri. The hotel is wonderfully located close to the Duomo and some truly outstanding restaurants all within walking distance (take a right turn out of the hotel for a couple blocks and look for the Bio Pizza on the opposite side of the street. Walk into a true local favourite and enjoy the best pizza ever!)
Our room for three was actually a two large room suite with a separate door to a roof top terrace and a view so beautiful you will weep. The hotel is Milano sleek but don't let that put you off because this one is done in the best of taste and style. The huge marble bathroom with the heated floor is stocked with everything from bath products to toothbrushes to shaving kits!
The breakfast offering is vast, offering meats, cheeses, cereals, pastries, juices, fruit etc.
One word of warning: this hotel has the most comfortable beds you may ever sleep on. They will spoil you for any other bed!
Hotel staff were brillant!!!!!
by A TripAdvisor Member
I stayed at this hotel from the 11th of Aug to the 14th and from the time my friend and I arrived at this brillantly located hotel to the time we left the staff were very friendly and attentive.
The hotel is about 10mins walking distance from the 73 bus stop which takes you to Linate airport and about 3 minutes from Durmo Metro which gives easy access to our parts of the city.
We had a twin room that I would consider very large by European standards. A twin room where the beds were actually separated and a distance apart. The bathroom was large with a bath and separate shower with two shower heads!!!
Reviews regarding how mordern the hotel is, are accuate. I have never stayed in a hotel with so many switches on the wall. They adjust various things from lights to metal shutters on the windows.
We had a room by the lift which I wasn't pleased about at first and considered asking for a change especially after reading reviews on noise but I barely noticed any noise it made.
We had an emergency on our last day and could not have dealt with it without the help of staff especially in regards to translating.
I would defiently stay at this hotel on my next visit to Milan and have nothing but praise for the staff.
Love this hotel and the wonderful staff

Outstanding in every respect - extremely helpful staff and most comfortable room and bed to date compared to similar 4 stars in Firenze, Venezia, Taormina. Great location near Duomo was perfect.
Although the rate was great, Expedia was a hassle to deal with as they did not have phone access 24/7 in Italy and gave the wrong toll free number. Would not book thru Expedia again.
Great Location and Value
by A TripAdvisor Member
We stayed here for just one night during a short trip to Milan and found it to be great value. After searching on the internet for hotels in the city centre, I found this was by far the cheapest for its location and quality.
Although the staff didn't seem amazingly friendly, the room was a good size and very clean and modern. The king size bed was actually 2 singles pushed together but still really confortable. The room did get quite hot during the night even though the air-conditioning was supposedly on but we were too tired after a day of sight-seeing to do anything about it.
There was a good breakfast selection but the best thing about this hotel is the location. Just 5 minutes walk from the Milan Duomo, shops, restaurants etc. All in all a good value hotel right in the centre.

by MandyGoh
Hi all,
Really need all the help that i can get.....This is my first trip to Europe.....
1. Where can i get point to point (international-overnight) tickets? Eg. Paris to Barcelona. I will be flying into Rome and working my way up. Am i able to get them at Rome's airport, travel agents in Rome or even Rome train station?
2. Checked bahn.de for connections, but the schedule is till 10th Dec. I am travelling after 10th Dec, how am i able to get the schedule for trains after 10th Dec?
3. Will be going up Florence and next to Venice. Is Pisa a worthwhile side trip from Florence. WIll need to spend half a day at least to get there and back.
Thanks...

Italy has a very good train site at www.trenitalia.it
Rick Steeves the travel guru has a good train travel tip site at http://www.ricksteves.com/rail/comparetickets.htm
If you are arriving to Fumicino airport, then there is a train station there. If you are arriving to Ciampino, you will have to shuttle in to Termini Station.
In general it's always a better idea to buy your ticket at the station. There is often more than one train that will get you where you want to go and at different prices. Some trains take you direct, while others stop in every little town along the way.

The schedules after 10th December are yet to be settled. Should happen any day now.

Pisa is a short trip from Florence (little more than 1 hour) and trains are frequent. And the historical centre is nice, with the lungarni (roads along Arno river, Florence has them too), piazza dei Cavalieri, the university district, the food market around piazza delle Vettovaglie and via Cavalca, a Keith Haring wall painting near the railway station... So I think it's worthwhile. But I live in Pisa, so I'm not objective
