Mirage B&B, Lecce

We loved our high-ceiling room with orange and white walls and orange and gold silky curtains and table covering - thought it was an African theme. The breakfast, delivered on a cart to our room at a time of our choosing, was perfect. Comfortable bed - but watch out for that shin-killer platform. My husband & I were both sporting bruises. Mirage is easy walking distance to everything to see, both new and ancient Lecce. On arrival, in early March, we asked at railroad station if Mirage was in walking distance and were advised we should take a bus. But we (late 50's) walked anyway, each with a backpack and rolling suitcase, after a long train ride from Rome. I think Mirage would have picked us up if I'd bothered to ask. It is a ways, but doable and pleasant. Mid-way we reconfirmed directions from some really nice local teenagers on a motorscooter and they later showed up at the Mirage to make sure we'd gotten there ok.

Le Stelle di una Volta: Lovely Old Town Apartment

The Stelle di una volta is a large apartment with living area, kitchenette, beautiful balconied bedroom area and bathroom.
It is situated just by the Porta di Napoli and hence a 10 minute walk to the main square.
The apartment is in an old house with tiled floors and stone brick walls, with vaulted ceilings.

Emma and Silvio, the landlords couldn't have been more helpful or delightful. Emma picked us up from the station, and then drove us to the airport bus stop at the end of our stay. And she also brought their 2 bikes for us to borrow during our stay.
