While walking along the beach I stumbled upon these ruins. They are near the Roman ruins at Egnazia, but I don't know if they are part of the Roman architecture in the area, or if this area was built later. I did see a few arches that look Roman, but who can tell? Not me!
This area looks to have been formed from volcanic lava that solidified in the sea. The locals must have found a way to cut the stone into a small size useful for bricks.... take a look at the pictures and you'll see the stone that was cut and a few of the structures that were subsequently built.
