HOTEL MILANO: Gianni Scovenna spent more than two decades overseas honing his customer service skills and is now the Managing Director/Owner of Hotel Milano in Via delle Terme 22. He is passing on his hospitality knowledge to his diligent staff and this three-star hotel has since become a sought after venue in the area. You will feel right at home at Hotel Milano, where service with a smile is a part of the practice. Their motto is ‘Never say no’. The hotel has its own swimming pool and room prices include breakfast. Their fees are decent and you can hire a double room for about €95 a night. Their phone number is 0383 91206, and Gianni speaks perfect English. Before looking around the place, just ask the friendly reception at Hotel Milano for a street map of Salice Terme. Ristorante Ca Vegia is located at the corner of Viale Diviani and Via Gennaro E. There is an Irish pub called La Quercia with al fresco beer garden just across the road from this restaurant. We personally liked going to the Daiquiri Factory (right opposite Hotel Milano) because they make the best strawberry daiquiri ever. Claudio is the assistant manager and speaks OK English, although ‘daiquiri’ in Italy is pronounced ‘dye-keery’. There are also dance clubs in the park and there is live music in cafes. Across the road there is a quaint pizzeria under a light blue awning. Here, apart from traditional pizzas, you can order some exquisite fish platters well worth trying out, like their mixed seafood grill and Sicilian octopus entrée.

In this leafy park next to the swimming pool off Via Diviani (near the river) you can easily escape the heat of the day by relaxing, breathing in fresh air or even going horse riding. They also have a tennis court and beach volleyball court available for those of you who might be of the athletic type.

We enjoyed our weekend at Salice Terme very much and we returned home recharged and refreshed with more energy, a real sense of wellbeing. We will be coming back to this Garden of Eden on a more regular basis. Get your body over there and treat yourself in this natural paradise, at least once.
