Podere Albereto: Italian Agriturismo par excellence!

If you haven't tried Italian Agriturismo (a farm stay), this is a great place to start. They have two apartments, both with full kitchen. Each has a private picnic area and there is a brand new pool. The views over the Chianti Valley are spectacular. Everything is new and in superb shape, including the bathroom with shower.

One of the owners is an artist and has decorated the apartments with her lovely work, even the bedside tables are painted!

You can easily drive to Grassina, park for free and take the bus into Florence. We took three day trips to Florence during our week at Podere Albereto. After the hustle and bustle of the city, it is lovely to return to your own apartment and watch the sunset over the mountains.

Unique Quality: This is a working olive farm with 1000 trees. They have a few chickens . . . fresh eggs! They have a kind old dog and a shy calico cat. When we were there, there were two kittens and I absolutely fell in love with one of them.

There was an above ground pool but they are putting in a regular pool for Spring of 2005. You have a private picnic area and there is a larger picnic area with barbecue if you want to use that. Views from any are incredible.

Totally unique to us was the fact that you can take a fresco lesson while there. The Bertinis took a day off from work and spent it helping us each paint a fresco that we brought home with us. She offers various kinds of art lessons and she is not only a talented artist, she is a very good teacher.

They've arranged weddings and I can't think of a lovelier setting. Any kind of party would be perfect there. The Bertinis are kind, friendly, sympatico people who have created a great rural experience. You feel like you are in the "real" Italy.
