A great little hotel on the beach front and about 15 mins walk from the 'old town'. Easy to get to from the airport..less than a euro on the airpport bus. From the moment we arrived the staff were very welcoming and helpful. The hotel itself is quite small but the rooms are spacious and extremely clean and comfortable. The buffet breakfast was excellent and full of choice. Couldn't fault my stay and would definately recommend this hotel to anyone and would certainly return again.

Unique Quality: On the beach and within walking distance to the 'old town'.

The AWESOME Alma di Alghero

by TripAdvisor Member misscosmo

The Alma di Alghero Hotel in Sardinia is truly a three star hotel dream! This hotel is brand new, spacious rooms, fabulous breakfast and polite and helpful hotel staff. All rooms have at least a side vewi of the ocean (which is literally right across the street). I highly reccommend room number 303 we could see the ocean from both sides of our balcony from this room. Remember this is a 3 star hotel. Do not mistake the high reveiws for a superior 5 star hotel. The "Alma" is fresh, clean, spacious, decebt sized bathrooms (again perfectly clean), with an exceptional location. There may not be chocolates on your pillow at night or the faciest fixings and finishings in the room but you will surely not regret choosing the Alma if you are in search of a wonderful standard hotel.

I would not reccommend paying the 15 euros a night to park in their lot. We rented a car and were able to park on the street right out front for free with no problems! If you do have a car make sure you drive to the "Spiagga di la Pelosa" this beach was amazing!

Not sure what all the fuss is about?

We stayed here for one night last week. We had booked this hotel purely on the reviews that had been posted on here. We did not enjoy our stay here at all. This hotel is new, it was only built in Sep last year but it is not going to age well at all. There were already scuffs on the walls, stains on the lampshades. It all felt like it had been 'done on the cheap'. Our double bed was two single mattresses pushed together. The walls were so thin you could hear everything from the rooms next door which equalled a very poor nights sleep. The bathroom is tiny and was generally sub standard. The buffet breakfast was not good either, rock hard croissants and an instant coffee machine. We had just stayed for three nights in Olbia at the Melia hotel which was absolutely brilliant, you could not compare the two and the Alma di Alghero was the more expensive one!! Alghero was okay however the East cost of Sardinia was much nicer - cleaner and more scenic. We could not wait to leave, we will be back to Sardinia but not to the Alma.

Very good stay

We enjoyed our recent stay at the Alma. Staff very friendly and helpful, excellent breakfast, good clean rooms. For a wonderful day out , I really recommend a boat trip on the Andrea Jensen. Leaves from Alghero, phone [--], we had a fantastic day.

No Problems Here

We stayed for 3 nights recently and had a very enjoyable stay. Check in was quick and although we arrived mid morning Elizabeth the friendly and helpful receptionist managed to get our room ready for us after a short wait. The bedrooms were very big and nice balcony. I agree with a previous review that the double bed was two singles put together and the bathroom on the small size but that did not cause us on any problem. Yes the walls are very thin, as we had to listen to the pleasures of a lady in the next room one night but this is not uncommon in the building of hotels in Alghero. Breakfast was very good with a great variety on offer. For anyone who wishes to spend a lot of time on the beach the position was excellent being right next to the Florida for anyone who knows Alghero. Check out is 10.00am but having an evening flight I did manage to get the room until midday. A pity no thought was given to having a shower room downstairs for guests like ourselves who have a day to spend in hot temperatures and need to freshen up before going home. A toilet and sink are available to use in reception area. Also another small moan is that all luggage has to be left in reception on check out. Again why did they not build a small luggage room for this purpose. Having stayed at the highly recommended Agedras three times before I would put the Alma on par with it. The Angedras is maybe 5 minutes or so nearer the town on the other side of the town. If I was to go agin it would be a difficult choice between the two where to stay.

Great Stay at the Alma

by TripAdvisor Member igs

We (me, my fiance and our two children, both aged 11) stayed at the Alma from July 19 to 25, 2006. Put simply, the hotel was exactly what we were looking for. It was clean, quiet and perfectly situated along the Lido, with large, comfortable rooms. Moreover, the staff were uniformly friendly and helpful, as well as tolerant of our attempts at speaking Italian.

If you're looking for a luxury hotel, this isn't it. But if you're looking for a good three star hotel to serve as your stay in Alghero, you can't go wrong with the Alma.

In my opinion, the opinion of the hotel here is by far overrated.
The rooms were clean and the stuff helpful, ok. But for the rest, I was rather disappointed after reading all these enthusiastic comments about the hotel.
The breakfest was more youth-hostel-like, not what you could expect (even) from a ***-hotel. There was actually no nice view to the ocean, next to the hotel there was a big construction and when this is finished I have doubts than you can see the ocean in another way than through the narrow road, whichs connects the hotel to the main street.
I have stayed in three hotels in Sardegna and of all three, the Alma was the most expensive and the most dissappointing one. Of course you have to consider than Alghero is maybe the most expensive place on the island. So if you want to spend some nice days on Sardegna, you will find much better deals than the Alma!

Average Alma

by TripAdvisor Member twonk

We stayed at the Alma for a week in early September and our opinion is as follows
The rooms are modern, fair sized and always clean
All the staff were extremely friendly and helpful at all times
Breakfast was ok even if it was in the basement
The hotels own website description should be taken with
a pinch of salt though, the entrance road is squeezed between a private house and another driveway, the "sea views" are only possible by leaning over the balconies and looking to the side, the view directly from the balconies is either a waste ground with a new building being erected or of the hotel/apartment block next door. Alghero itself is at least a 15 minute walk away along an unfinished promenade.
Overall a good average hotel not a great one

Even better than expectations!

by TripAdvisor Member RogerA

We found the Alma well up to the 4* hotel that we had stayed in in Olbia. The cold buffet breakfast was very good with cerials, tinned fruits, cold meats, cheese, rolls, fresh baked croissants, pastries and fresh fruit - significantly more than many of the hotels in the area. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Rooms were kept spotless and were reasonably sized. Air conditioning and a safe in the room were included in the price.

Well-priced and good location

by TripAdvisor Member Yov

We really enjoyed our stay in this hotel, we found the staff to be very friendly and the room spacious and well-decorated. It was a good location, right near the beach and only about 10 minutes walk into the old town. We only stayed for three nights before moving on to another part of Sardinia, if you were staying in Alghero for the whole time I would recommend hiring a car as there's so much more to see. We went on a boat trip, on the Andrea Jensen which I would highly recommend. It was a bit more pricey than the other trips on offer but it was on a traditional sailing boat so worth the extra expense. Don't expect to be entertained on the boat, it's just a nice relaxing time although we were given the opportunity to help with the sails and that was quite hard work!
