Perfect Pool
We Stayed here in 2003. It's around a 15min walk from the centre of Alghero which made it perfect for having a relaxing time without the bustle of the town all the time.
The hotel was good with a large pool area that is situated high up so you get an excellent view over the bay with the sea just over the road from the hotel. I think you could hire towels there as well. There isn't much of a beach to speak of on this side of Alghero it's very rocky. There is a bar area near the pool where they served food which wasn't too bad, not as good as the restaurants in town. There were tennis courts at the back of the hotel & a small crazy golf course for kids.

Awful !!!!!!!!
The best thing is the pool, the second is the garden ... then a black hole l!!!!!
Rooms are more than poor, breakfast is as horrible as you could imagine from a 4 stars hotel.

A roof over your head
We stayed at the Carlos V (pronounced ‘Quinto’ in Italian ) along the Lungomare Vallentia. Regarded as one of the better hotels in Alghero and officially ranked as a 4 star, we found it to be just OK. Spotlessly clean and well run the rooms were very basic, even for Italian hotels. Breakfast was good and served in a buffet style. Being at the dear end of the market, we would have expected much more for our money.
Unique Quality: The main highlight is the hotels massive and immaculate salt water pool. This is spoilt slightly by the lack of sun loungers. I thing the hotel has a capacity of around 250 guests and they have a total of 70 loungers, leading to daily arguments about beds being ‘reserved’. Be warned lol!
