A Bed & Breakfast experience
This should not be listed under hotels - it is two rooms in the owners' flat, in the new town. You may have to share the bathroom with the owners or other guests, but you do have your own terrace, and you get breakfast. The owner is a university professor, who specialises in underwater archeology, and is a mine of information on Sardinia. The rooms are clean, comfortable and spacious, with nice linen and local artifacts as decoration, and if you want the experience of staying in an Italian's home, this may suit you, but don't book it if you want the anonymity of a hotel or the complete privacy you would get in one. Mario will collect you from the airport for the same cost as a taxi. The flat is close to the beach and restaurants, and a 10-minute stroll from the old town. The owners also have a self-catering flat in the old town.
