A pretty new hotel just a few minutes walk from the city centre. Very friendly and helpful staff. Comfortable ensuite room and a good buffet breakfast included in the price, great cakes! One of the few hotels in town open all year.

  • New Cheap hotel in Alghero

New , cheap near old town.
Nice hotel in central location. The service provided by all was excellent and we found it to be one of the 'friendlest' hotels we have encountered.
Our room was spaceous, very clean, with a huge bed and a single for the little one. The bathroom too was clean and modern, a good size with everything in good working order

    Directions: Near old Town

The hotel is small but very friendly and not to badly priced but as with all hotels these prices rise in the higher season. The rooms are big enough with ensuite, tea & coffee,Tv etc, and very clean,

Sardinia is Great --Angedras mediocre

by TripAdvisor Member kansastraveler07_9

We loved the island of Sardinia and plan to return many more times. However, the Angedras was mediocre at best. Quite expensive for off-season. The walls are paper-thin - you can hear the conversations going on in the room next to you, above you and in the hallways.
Staff was very helpful, however, two of the three restaurants they recommended were closed for holiday. Staff should be more up to date on closings. Hotel is a 15-20 minute walk from town, in a drab residential area. No views, no pool. Breakfast was in a croweded little room. Food and service was good however. Would not stay here again.

Only stopped one night, but from the moment my wife and I stepped into the hotel until we left, we found the staff very welcoming, friendly, smiling and very helpful. All the staff we met spoke excellent English. The hotel was in a quiet area and the hotel and rooms were spotlessly clean. They do not do evening meals, but advised us to a nice restaurant in the town. Arranged a taxi for us the next morning to get us to the Airport (25 euros,Oct.04, 15min drive), the driver also spoke English and was very pleasant. A little difficult to find the location of the hotel if you don't speak Italian, but there is a large artistic street map in the sea front area near the fort: which we used to find the street where the hotel is located.

THE Place to Stay in Alghero

by A TripAdvisor Member

Hotel Andegras is the place to be if you fancy a trip to Alghero, Sardinia. Within walking distance from the historical town centre the hotel offers all the facilities you need. The service is of high standard and the staff are extremely kind and helpful. The rooms are comfortable and very clean.
Breakfast is enjoyed on a terrace and offers mouth-watering pastries and sweets. The real jewel of the hotel is Antonella; a beautiful smile and a wonderful member of staff. Antonella has made our stay at Hotel Angedras an unforgettable one !

Are you kidding?

I actually can not believe the reviews on this page. Are they writing about some other hotel then the Angedras? For me this is a mediocre small hotel in a dull neighbourhood, with no views, no pool, very little service and rude cleaning ladies. The morning after our arrival we slept late, tired after our journey. When we got out at 12 o´clock noon the staff refused to clean our room. This has never happened to me in any hotel.

The day of our arrival we found out that check out time was 10 o´clock. Personally I find that rather harsh, to say the least - but from experience I´ve noticed that many Italian hotelliers could easily double as prison keepers.

The room also had no refrigerator - a must in such southern latitudes.

It has to be admitted that the western part of Sardinia has not many good hotels, so maybe Angedras stands out. But - give me a break. I found it rather drab - as much of Sardinia´s towns and villages indeed are. It is not a place I would especially recommend for a holiday.

Great hotel, shame about the hire car

by TripAdvisor Member f_tastic1

Just got back from a long weekend at the Angedras.
Great location, shame it was so bitterly cold! but anyway we had fun, nice and clean hotel, very helpful staff, quite noisy early morning with people walking around, but then you can help that with uncarpeted flooring, good facilities.
We hired a car and saw some breathtaking views going up and down the cost road,

Had an incident with a petrol pump taking my money hence the hire car was 7/8 full, i explained to the guy but still got charged 10 euros for not filling it up, bit tight i thought as we had tried to fill it up and it wasn't our fault, i must stress this was nothing to do with the hotel or staff but a guy called Enrico that runs the car company, i would advise to avoid him as he is a) expensive and b) didn't care about our story, i expected him to say "don't worry about it!".
There is another guy they use, i would suggest that.

Not 5-Star but still worth recommending

by TripAdvisor Member le-dude

My partner and I stayed here for 5 nights earlier this month after reading other reviews and were very satisfied. Admittedly the hotel is 15 minutes walk from the old town but it's a lovely walk, especially late in the evening when you're well fed and watered, (there are few more bars to stop at on the way back too !). The hotel itself is very well presented, is spotlessly clean (altho if you're a bit late up the room may not be serviced later), and the staff are extremely friendly and always happy to help with advice and information. As another reviewer has suggested, a small pool in the centre courtyard would be more useful than the unnecessarily large reception area, but for short stays that really shouldn't put anyone off, and of course, if a pool was put in you wouldn't be paying the same price ! We considered it good value for the money. Alghero itself is lovely, esp the old town where there are some fantastic eateries. We liked La Laponte (at the start of the battlements) and The Mirador (further along towards the marina) the best - more pricey than some others but excellent food and service. Some have suggested others to avoid and we would add the Posada Del Mar (in one of the little squares) - really grumpy waiters and the first time anywhere that we have ordered wine and then had it brought to us already opened and just plonked (no pun intended) on the table without glasses (!) and with no chance to examine the label or taste it. Also, you would not believe how much of a problem asking for some butter could cause (and we even asked in Italian !) - not recommended !! Final recommendation though....hire a scooter with a little boot/trunk for your bits n bobs from near the marina and run down the coast road to Bassa - it's a fantastic piece of road and the beach and swimming at this small resort are very good indeed. Overall we found Alghero a lovely place to visit and unless you want your hotel to have a pool and disco, the Angedras will probably suit most people very well.

Excellent hotel for the money

by TripAdvisor Member DameMeditation

I read about the hotel on Trip Advisor and thought I'd give it a go. It lived up to the reviews. Situated about 10 minutes walk from the town centre its in a quiet suburb(quiet except for some neightbour's dog that barked alll night!!). Nice, clean, well-appointed rooms and friendly, helpful staff on hand to assist you.

Try the beach the hotle recommends rather than the main lido as its way from the main road so you don't get any traffic noise. You need to get the bus there if you don't have a car but these seem to run when they want. I never worked out what time they wer due at the bus stop, and they certainly didn't run every half hour as advertised!!!!

Ignore the Bella Napoli restaurant where I thought the pizzas were awful, but do go to the seafood restaurant (Pavone????) that they recommend as it's fabulous - epecially the shrimps and mussels au gratin.

I also recommend a restaurant near the Jamaica Inn pub in the old town. I can't recall its name but its open air and seems to have been built in the ruins of an old building, though the ruins may have been built deliberately for effect for all I know.

Don't waste your money on a trip to the grotty grotto. There are too many people. There was no English commentary and they told us to turn back before we'd seen everything because the boat was about to go!!!!
