Hi folks,
I'm staying in Alghero in September for two weeks, and I wondered where else can you get to by ferry or boat from Alghero for day trips? I've heard that it's possible to get a ferry to Corsica - is this correct?
Are there any other places accessible by ferry or boat for a day trip or overnight trip?

Navi Sarda is the main boat excursions company, from the top 1/2 day trip to the Grotta di Nettuno to all day island hopping. Their shop front is right at the start of Via Garibaldi - just past the last of the Centro Storico fortifications and all the boats leave from here. Didn't see Corsica as a day trip though.

The nearest point to Alghero where ferries run to Corsica is Golfo Aranci.
This is on the North East side of the island.
You could travel along the northern coast of Sardinia -very beautiful!- and take a ferry from Santa Teresa to Ajaccio.
I think it's the shortest (& cheapest) way. And Ajaccio is a truly magnificent town... you'll see! :-)
Streets in the old town centre of Alghero are typical. There are nearly all stone paved and so narrow, it's difficult and unpleasant to drive a car although they are allowed and used!
Houses are colourful with Venetian shutters, sometimes with hanging linen.
Notice in the pictures other particularities in Alghero: wandering cats, street names in two languages (Italian and Catalan).
