Few Kms north of Alghero lies this huge rock overlooking the sea. The scenery is majestic and you can walk to the lighthouse. Don't miss the sunset from there.

For those who are interested, magnificent scuba dives are possible.

Scuba diving

by claesw

If you´ve ever scuba dived and you enjoy it, don´t miss the opportunity to go on a trip with the team at Capo Galera. They´ll take you to the caves by Capo Caccia and give you a wonderful diving experience. Capo Galera is on the way north to Capo Caccia and it is situated at a lovely place where you can also stay if you like to. The guides are super and they have excellent equipent to rent.

The pictures posted doesn't give true justice
to what is seen and enjoyed and experienced when actually in the Capo Caccia. It is overwhelmingly beautiful
than the pictures here.So far these are the only graphic images of the place.

Capo Caccia and Grotta di Nettuno

by BombayGin

Walking down the "goat stairway" in Capo Caccia to Grotta di Nettuno is just an exhilarating experience. It was well worth the 656 steps down and back up again. I didn't take the boat there, so can't comment. We kept stopping to take photos of the views but it took us about 12 mins to walk back up. I think on average, you can expect to walk back up in about 15 - 20 mins. Don't miss the grotto as well. There isn't a conducted tour but a recorded commentary.

Itinerary for 4 days in Sardegna

by ddinc

We will be in May in Sardegna for 4 days.
Planning to stay at the following towns each one night(by car):
Olbia,Alghero,Oritano,Cagliari.

Does anybody have a better advice?
Should we spend more than 1 day in Costa Smeralda ?

Thanks in advance.

RE: Itinerary for 4 days in Sardegna

by Paleino

Not spend many time to visit towns, but to know the earth and the nature of Sardegna. Look for info about Dorgali-Cala Gonone - golfo di orosei-gole del Gorroppu- Tiscali or about Alghero-isola dell'Asinara-Capo Caccia-Stintino. Look also for Giara di Gesturi-Tharros-Sinis-Oristano or Arcipelago dlla Maddalena-Costa Smeralda-Valle della Luna-Monte Limbara.

Have a nice trip

Ciao Sandro

1st Visit to Sardinia

by JBH1

A few questions:-

1. Has anybody stayed at Hotel Villaggio dei Pini? What's it like?

2. Do you know the area - Golfo Dell/Asinara? Are there bars, restaurants, shops and things to do and see in both these areas?

3. What is the weather like in this area from 14 September - visiting for 9 days?

4. How far is it from Olbia to Hotel Villaggio dei Pini? Can I hire a car, enough for 4 people and 4 big cases or do I have to get a taxis or other means of transport.

Looking forward to going there.

RE: 1st Visit to Sardinia

by virtualnick

Hi JBH1,
my answers are:

1) NO

2) Golfo dell'Asinara is a quite big area. Beautiful beaches in Stintino and Alghero (a lot), beautiful town Alghero, Bosa and Castelsardo. You can't miss Asinara Island National Park and Capo Caccia reef.

3) The weather is warm (average weather temperatures in September 2004: min 19°C - MAX 29°C) and the sea water is hot!

4) Olbia - PortoTorres is 115km. I suggest you to hire a car, because the taxi could be very expensive and above all because is the ideal transportation for a journey in Sardinia.

If you have any doubts post your questions in this forum.
bye

Diving and fun

by Erwin32

Hi! Can anyone recommend the best place in Sardinia to combine a diving course (absolute beginners)with nice beaches and young-but-not-so-young (25-40) people? Some bars in the are very welcome.

Hi

The best places I know to dive in Sardinia are:
Porto San Paolo on the eastern coast, close to Olbia, and exactly in front of the Tavolara island
Capo Caccia, on the western coast, close to Alghero.
Both have nice beaches around and nice people, and bars of course.

Cheers

G.

RE: RE: Diving and fun

Great places to visit, good plce for dives, all around the archipelago, going up to Lavezzi, where you can dive with huge cods.

I have some addresses of diving centers I've tested if you're interested in.

Thanks for your help! I am definitely interested in which diving schools are good for beginners, but not too fanatic; I am still enjoying a vacation ;) Good accomodation in the area is also a plus. I know my wish list is quite extensive, but you cannot blaim me for that, can you?
