This old hotel in the old town is pefectly located if you want to visit the city as it is at walking distance to everything.
You can have breakfast at a quiet patio which is part of the monastery.
Unique Quality: Great location.
But the rooms were too simple, made me think of a religious residence more than a hotel (though the price is a hotel price).
We stayed here in January, 2007. The rates were very reasonable, the location could not be beaten, and we found the hotel to be very clean and pleasant. The breakfast was simple but adequate. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The building is very old, being part of an old monastery. The room we were in was basic - no TV or hairdryer, etc. - but the bed was comfortable and it suited us very well.
Unique Quality: The location is superb, being right in the old town.
Directions: Old Town
The twenty one rooms are converted from a 14th century convent, peak tariff in August was a very reasonable Eu92 a room. On two floors, be aware that there is no lift. Breakfast was just a fruit juice, a hot drink and a pastry, less than many competitors, but leaves you pleasantly ready for lunch early afternoon. No TV, mini bar/ fridge or hair dryer in the rooms which were basic but comfortable
Ocassional free piano concertos from the courtyard - enjoy from the cloisters
Unique Quality: The only hotel in the small old town - our next visit will accordingly be based on availability of this hotel !
Directions: Near tourist information centre off Via Simon - you will need to walk with any cases about 40 or 50 metres from the end of Via Machin at Via Simon
This is not a hotel I stayed in but I was checking it out for my sister! Having seen what it has to offer, I would probably stay here next time I visit Alghero.
Unique Quality: Set in the converted cloister of the 14th century church of San Francesco, it has 21 air-conditioned rooms all with private facilities. Breakfast can be taken in the cloister. The room rates looked reasonable, the location is superbly positioned in the heart of the old town, the receptionist was very obliging when we asked to look round & the atmosphere of the whole place is amazingly serene. All in all, seems like a great place to base oneself when visiting Alghero!!
NB. This hotel also offers a 150 seat function room for conferences, meetings etc.
Directions: Centre of the old town
