Alghero B&B

by Jackbob

Anybody ever been in Alghero Sardinia?

I have been to Sardinia about 10 years ago. Alghero is (was) a very pleasant town, especially around the harbour. Sardinia is enormous, though ! We never got to see more than a tiny fraction of the northwest part.

I went two years ago (actually, we arrived just on this date 2 years ago!!), for a week, only saw Alghero and the Northern part of the island. Loved it!

We were a party of 5 and found a great value apartment to stay, they have a smaller one if you're 2-3 people:

Hi Alghero is located in the North West coast adn it is peculiar for the catalan influence due to the Spanish domain of the city for long time.
The city is really beautiful and here you can watch Italy's longest sunset (about 9 o'clock in the evening during Summer)
Beach is nice but you better move in surroundings if you want to enjoy the typical water's colours of Sardinia's sea: for example Capocaccia or Stintino (up in the north if the island).
The best is La Maddalena for a tour in Costa Smeralda, but you can save a couple of days to do it and then save the rest of you holidays to stay in Alghero.
For short stays in La Maddalena you can have a look at the followig hotels list:

Travel Tips for Alghero

Lunch beach side

by Paisleypaul about Santa Cruz

Great place at lunch time, couples and families, completely comfortable to roll in in T-shirt swimming shorts and sandals.

Cold drinks, beers wines or soft drinks, go down a treat in August.

Very original makeshift decor, with all kinds of oddments and curios scattered around, plus several musical instruments - there is live music, more a night time thing one expects - such as the picture of Mexican congas.......... Pizzas and bread were good but in all honesty "average" - although you have to qualify that by saying that the average standard is very high.

Recommended to sunbathers for lunch to escape the heat for a while.
