There are numerous churches in Cagliari, some of them dating back as far as the 15th century. It is always worth visiting them both from the outside and the inside.
Here is a list of churches in Cagliari with a short description of each one.
Please note: we found that quite a few churches were closed whenever we wanted to visit, so you better check on possible opening hours (especially if you travel off season!)!
Bastione di San Remy

"Torre dell' Elefante"
Built by the Pisani in 1307 was akey point in the castle defensive system. The tower designed by the architect Giovanni Capula, has over the centuries served several use. During the Spanish it became a sad and dramatic symbol:abobe its porticullis, the severed heads of those who have been executed would huges in cases.
In 1852, when the tower was converted in a gaol for political prisoners, a further storey was added with limestone crenallations.
