Cagliari Airport bus service: T Hotel
by bhpen
Not unsurprisingly, our Ryanair flight (13 may 09) has been delayed until a scheduled arrival time of 23.25!
As taxi fares in cagliari appear particularly high(?) does anyone know whether the airport bus into the town will still be running at that hour?
Also, would anyone know if the walk to the T HOTEL (cabin baggage only) would be feasible from the Bus Station - (always assuming of course we can get that far so late at night?)
Many thanks,
Brian & Helen

Hi! I suggest to take the Airport Shuttle, which will take you right to Bus and Train station (it usually wait until the last flight landed). Then take the bus n° M (direction Via San Gottardo) and alight at the stop in Via Bacaredda. The hotel is 200 meters to your right. Alternatively, take bus n° 1 (direction Via F. Gioia) from the central bus-stop in Largo Carlo Felice and alight in Piazza Giovanni XXIII. The hotel is 150 meters to your left.
Walking distance from Bus station to T-Hotel is about 2 km, so abit far from city centre... Anyway, if you prefer, can take a taxi just after leaving the shuttle: price will be better and less than taking it at the airport.
Have a great stay in wonderful Cagliari!

Trip to Sardinia
by gregh104
Hello, I am planning a trip to Sardinia and am strongly considering Cagliari. Can someone advise what the beaches are like in the beginning of June, and what type of choices I have? Also, I am considering staying at the T Hotel, and although it looks great, I want to make sure it is not too far out of the way of things. I don't mind a 10-20 minute trip everyday and I dont mind a bit of a walk as well, but want to make sure I am not upwards of an hour away. Any info you can provide would be appreciated.
Thanks!
Greg

The T Hotel is wonderful and new. I stayed there more than once since it opened maybe 4 years ago. Not in elevated position (at the base of the upper side of the town center) but definetely not close to the sea (maybe 3 kms from the port, but around 5 from the nearest beach)
There are buses around, but i never used them, because i had always a car (that I higly recommend)
The beach of Cagliari is the wonderful and long stripe of sand of Poetto (look google maps or earth: its on the ESE of the center). Reachable by bus (althoug maybe with a change from T-hotel). Now that i remember, taxies are not expensive in Cagliari, so to Poetto it may be a choice. You can find a lot of tiki bars and reastaurants, there.
But, if you have a car, DO NOT miss the beacheas around VillaSimius (eatsward) and Chia (westward) with its high sandy dunes...
Enjoy!

The Poetto used to be well known for it's lovely powdery, flour like white sand. Sadly a lot of that sand was replaced by dredged coarse grain quartz sand. Too bad. Still it's a nice place to hang out...and the other spots like Villasimius, Pula, are great...

Poetto Beach
by tini58de
Cagliari is not all culture and architecture, it also has an 11 km strech of beautiful white sandy beach, called Poetto Beach. We were there in February, so it was too cold to go for a swim, but a wonderful walk on the beach was just as nice! We did see a guy who went fishing there, so this might be another idea, but for us a walk was just fine!
