More about Hotel Cala Luna

Cala Mariolu

by Ermione

This is a beautiful beach close to the more famous "Cala Luna in the eastern coast of Sardinia.
You can reach this place just by boat because there are the mountains behind it.
There are a lot of companies organizing the jurney to cala mariolu and cala luna.
Look at the water!
Look at the colour and the transparence of the water! it is amazing!

You don't need to go to go far away to find the paradise!

Cala Gonone area beaches

Incredible sight of two of most impressive beaches i 've seen in Sardinia, it remebers me to Costa Brava in Catalonia (Spain). At the end there is cala Luna (where i didnt arrive on my trip)

You can come here without enter to cala gonone town , there is a shortcut to right hand before arrive to gonone and you only must follow that road

Campsites with children

by janette77

Hi, I plan to travel to Sardegna july 2005 with 3 children and wondered if anybody could recommend campsites with swimming pools and also furnished tents to rent. Any ideas would be gratefully received!!!!

RE: RE: Campsites with children

by virtualnick

Hi Janette,
Generally speaking, Sardinian campsites don't need to have a swimming pool, because the sea is its self a swimming pool (I can assure you)!
Actually campsites with swimming pool compensate for the lack of a private or adjacent beach.

I've been in the following campsites with swimming pool:

- CAMPING CALA GONONE
http://www.campingcalagonone.it/index/indexinglese.htm
(young people and families, full of services, lot of trees)
Ideal if you like excursions, beaches suggested: Cala Luna, Cala Fuili, Cala Mariolu, .... (for pics visit www.fotodisardegna.it/mare.htm)

- CAMPING CUGNANA
http://www.campingcugnana.it/ENG/inizio.htm
(full of young people)
Near Olbia, Palau. Beaches suggested: Capo Coda Cavallo, ....

- CAMPING GOLFO DI ARZACHENA
http://www.campingarzachena.com/
(young people and families)
Near Costa Smeralda. Beaches suggested: Romazzino, Cala di Volpe, Liscia di Vacca, ....

All of the above mentioned campsites are good!

Enjoy Sardinian sea!

Hi Nick, thanks so much for your info. we've decided to fly into Alghero, could you recommend any sites on the north of the Island. We are going to hire a car but feel the drive south will be too much for the kids. We have to travel 5 hours to the London airport, another 4hours drive to the south of the Island would make it a really long trip. The flight prices are much cheaper to Alghero than Cagliari, so Alghero it will have to be. we were thinking somewhere between stintino and Santa Teresa gallura. What do you think?

tante grazie

Snorkelling in Sardegna

by sierralyndon

We're thinking of spending a week on Sardegna this summer, but don't know where exactly to base ourselves. It is a rather large island! Would anyone have recommendations on where the best place would be that we could go snorkelling without venturing too far out to sea. I don't swim very well, and would prefer somewhere where the sea isn't that rough.

Thanks all!

Kaz

the Emerald coast (costa smeralda) is the best.. it's great, water is like french polinesia, no sharks though

i like isola maddalena as base or villasiminus

but you should ask Giampiero6 ;-)he really knows Sardegna

RE: Snorkelling in Sardegna

Hi Kaz,
I think that the best places for snorkelling in Sardinia are:

1) La Maddalena Archipelago - Marine National Park (La Maddalena, Caprera, Budelli, Spargi, Santa Maria)

2) The east coast from Dorgali to Baunei (Cala Fuili, Cala Cartoe , Cala Biriola, Cala Sisine, Cala Mariolu, Cala Luna, Cala Golorotzè) NOTE: Cala = Creek

Anyway enjoy the marvellous translucent sea!!!
bye

Thank you for your responses! It's getting closer to decision time, and your advice has been helpful.

Check my picture of a beach on La Maddalena we used a paddle boat to snorkle off of. I think it's called pomertori beach it's the one the 007 sub car was driven off the peer in the spy who loved me.

Camping in Sardinia

by Petermurt

Hi,
Could anyone reccommend a good place for camping in Sardinia? I'm looking for somewhere in the North East & East. Close to the beach would be ideal.

Thanks in advance,
Peter

Re: Camping in Sardinia

Hi Peter,
I can recommend one in the east, south of Arbatax, called Coccorrocci. It is located near Bari Sardo, south of it. If you have GoogleEarth, it is on 39°43'40,79'' N; 9°40'26.40'' E.
http://www.campingcoccorrocci.it/
I was there 1999, and liked it for its water and the huge ground and the restaurant. The water is very much clear, no dangerous currents, but has pebbles.

If you look for nice beaches and don't want to go to this Costa Esmeralda, then Villasimius in the far southeast is a good option. We stayed at a campground, but I forgot the name (sorry).

hope this helps
Ingrid

Found the one in Villasimius:
http://www.villaggiospiaggiadelriso.it/gb/index.asp
Village Spaggia del Riso.
It was only 5 minutes walk to the white beaches of the town.

Haha, and now another north of Alghero:
http://www.torredelporticciolo.it/camping/index_en.cfm.
This one was good as well, but way off any village. It had (still has) its own beach, a 10-15 minute walk, depending where you put your tent.

Re: Camping in Sardinia

The camping just North of Alghero is Fertilia, very handy for the beaches and a whole lot more besides, comes well recommended. The seasonal Calik (June-Sept telephone 079 930 111)or more intimate Nurral (079 930 485).

This is NW rather than NE.

Forgot Sardegna's first campsite in Alghero - http://www.lamariposa.it/Default.asp?ver=en

Guys,
Thanks a million for getting back to me. Much appreciated. Will definitely look into your reccommendations.

Hi,
the best campsites, I've ever been in east of Sardinia are:
1) CALA GINEPRO CAMPING (www.campingcalaginepro.com) in Orosei
Please have a look to the pics in their web site. The big picture you see is the beach contiguous to the campsite, amazing! There is a tiny wonderful bay, like a huge swimming pool (actually much better!)

2) CALA GONONE CAMPING (www.campingcalagonone.it) in Cala Gonone
There isn't a beach adjacent to the campsite: the Campsite is at the beginning of the touristic town of Cala Gonone but the nearest beach is about 500-700 meters far. The peculiarity of this campsite is the strategic position: if you like trekking you can reach from the campsite ones of the most beautiful beaches of Sardinia: Cala Luna, Cala Mariolu, Cala Sisine and, at the end, Cala Goloritzè. There are also good boat renting services.

Cheers
Virtualnick
