A Great Hotel
by gambadilegno about Hotel Le Palme
We stayed for only one week. But this hotel is a good base for exploring the nort of the island. We only explored the smaragd coast - the costa smeralda. The coast of the rich and beautifull. But there is always a place for "normal" human beiings. Great beach, beautifull rooms- the hotel is build like a ols mediterran house.

Romantic Spots

My girlfriend and i will be visiting the Island for a few days towards the end of January. We are fling into Alghero and will be renting a car for the trip. Where would people recommend spending the 3 nights we are there? I would rather stay clear of big hotels and would prefer scenic locations and nice family run B&B or small independent hotels. Where are the must see area's on the island? And what will the weather be like this time of year?

Hi Scubaphoto
Bearing in mind that it is likely to be pretty cold in January, I hope you take some warm clothing. For 3 days from Alghero I would suggest you try a day down the coast to Bosa. Then maybe inland towards Nuoro and over to the East coast. coming back around the north coast.
It may be a good idea to try and pre-book accomodation as not too many small places will be open. If you enjoy driving you can obviously cover more ground but ultimately it depends on what sort of things you want to go and see.
Alghero may be a good place to stay in and do shorter trips depending on the weather.
