What is the best way from Sassari to Palau

by jakata2

I will be in Sassari next summer and plan to go from Sassari to Palau. It looks like there are 2 options. Take a bus from Sassari to Tempio Pausiana. Then from Tempio Pausiana to Palau. I do not understand the schedules very well but it looks like there are limited times. The other option I see is to take a train from Sassari to Olbia and then take a bus to Palau. I have travelled by train much in Italy so I am comfortable with that option but think it might be quite a bit longer because there might be a long wait for a bus in Olbia.

Is there another way? Which is the fastest and most comfortable?

Thank you for your attention to my inquiry.

Ciao,

You better go by train, it's faster and you avoid the bad road around Tempio (many curves) so also the most comfortable. During the summer the bus from Olbia to Palau will leave every hour. Beside that, you will enjoy traveling by train! The train goes very slow so you are able to see the beautiful inlands of Sardinia. If you ar lucky you have to switch trains at Ozieri, where you can buy a drink at the bar.
Cost; around 7,50 for the trainticket and around 3,00 for the busticket (in euro's)

Have a nice trip,
Enrico

That is exactly the advice I am looking for. It looks like every other train has a change at Ozieri so I have a good change to stop for a coffee or a glass of local wine.
Thank you Enricosardo for taking you time to respond.

Travel Tips for Sassari

Bonio in Sassari

"At least it was warm rain"

We're not having much luck with the weather on our recent travels, and our two days in Sassari were no exception. Visiting in January poor weather to be expected I guess.
Anyway enjoyed our travels around the old town, a couple of good eating places and a comfortable hotel to recommend. Please take a look at what we did.

"Fainé"

Local delicacy made from chick peas and a remnant of the trading links with Genoa. Very simple, tasty and quite addictive, see tip later.
