Beware the early season

Some UK visitors have complained that the staff "don't speak English" and are "unhelpful". On the contrary, we found they all speak at least a little English (often a lot) and were very courteous and helpful. The rooms were fine, the location superb, child facilities excellent, though we do feel that having to pay an extra 91 euros for a cot in a family room is definitely OTT!
We went in early May and our main complaint is that only 1 of the 5 restaurants was open and other bars & facilities were unavailable because, they said, "it was early season". That's fair enough, but our travel company should have known this was the case and warned us, as we might have chosen another location.
One tip: If you get a hire car (good idea) beware of driving into the capital, Cagliari. It's an interesting place (great restaurants) but parking there is a nightmare! It seems as if 5000 cars are chasing 2000 parking places and the rules are tight. Better to leave the car outside the city and get a bus or taxi in. All in all though, Sardinia is a nice place to vist and we'll go again.
